"Very polite and accommodating staff. Building is historic, but well renovated with modern amenities such as WiFi and off-street parking. Guests get breakfast served daily, and there is self-serve tea and coffee at all hours. Would definitely stay again!"

"My husband and I came to Akwaaba Philly for the first time Labor Day weekend to celebrate our anniversary. We took the Amtrak train which was a quick 1hr ride from Baltimore. Additionally, it was a quick 10 minute Uber ride to the B&B. The place was so quaint with so much charm and character. The inn keeper La Joya took such good care of us the entire weekend. Our daily breakfast was delicious! Every day we got a different option which was wonderful. We stayed in the Blue Note because our 1st choice was not available. The room was nice and suites our needs. I do think there could have been more decor related to Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes though. Lastly, the location was perfect as we were able to walk to a lot of the attractions we were interested in. We will definitely be back!"

"This was our first time to the Akwaaba Philadelphia location, second visit at an Akwaaba property. The house is nestled in the Drexel University area. Access to the happenings, but the street where the house is located was quiet. We felt like there was plenty of street parking over the weekend. The level of hospitality at the Akwaaba properties it TOP NOTCH. Rafyah was our innkeeper and she insisted on taking care of us and it was noticed and appreciated. Taking our bags, providing a brief tour and overview of the inn, and even refreshment. The breakfasts were simply DELICIOUS!!! There's a lovely porch to hangout on, where we chose to sit and sip wine one night. We appreciated the little touches and items offered to keep guests comfortable. There was a library of books, games, snacks, restaurant recommendations and even the ingredients to make s'more outside. Bed was comfortable, rooms are clean, water pressure good and we even enjoyed the cable TV. I would absolutely recommend this B&B to anyone visiting the are."

"Stayed here in October for a girl's weekend! Had a fantastic time!! Loved the room (all 3 of us had different rooms with great decor, all were great!) and the breakfast. There was complimemtary wine the 1st night. Excellent location, close to everything. Definite recommend!"

"I wanted to surprise my husband for his birthday and treated him, us to the Philadelphia Akwaaba location. The kindness of La'Joya, the chef and manager, was outstanding! The bed was very comfortable and everything was extremely clean! For breakfast we had fresh French toast with fresh Strawberries, Blueberries, and apples and turkey bacon. The juice was also fresh. Eveyone was so benevolent. Even the other guest were nice! They booked Amina's for us for dinner and they made my husband a chocolate birthday cake! It is a cozy, quaint , lovely black owned establishment."
