"Dr. Thompson is great but they billed a weight check for my newborn as a level 3 exam and was promised it would be fixed for over a year, it never was. Office manager doesn’t return calls, billing dept. Is completely unhelpful. Be careful going here or you will end up paying them money you don’t owe. Don’t expect any help from them. And emergency line takes at least two calls until someone calls you back."
"The pediatrics here are nice and very professional. Remember this is group of pediatrics, so they are facing a lot of babies every day. When my baby had fever in the middle of night. We tried several times to call but unable to have any response back. By the time one of pediatric called back that was already too late for us. And also whenever your baby need to do the blood work, that is not done by your pediatrics at RWJ. My baby was sent to the Lab corp and that place is not for baby and kids. They don't even have that butterfly needles for baby and most technician does not have decent basic drawing blood skill basic on my research from most of their google review and my personal experiences. We went to the one in south Plainfield NJ Lab Corp. and had pretty bad experience over there. One of female technician with shoulder length black hair were unable to get the blood from my baby and the needle was in my baby's arm back and forth for a longtime still she could not take the blood. You can image how much pain my baby was suffered. I refused her to try on my baby with another arm. Another older technician stepped in and got the blood. My baby is fine after all that was done. As a mom, it cannot be ever forgotten. I hope my review can help another parents out their look for the best for their own kids."
"Some pediatricians here are AMAZING! Dr. Thompson is our favorite, wonderful doctor & so good with the little ones. Dr. Goodman is also phenomenal, although we haven’t been able to see her since Covid began b/c she was only seeing the newbies @ the hospital. She was the only doctor who identified my son’s penile adhesion, saving him a surgical intervention later on. (Most of the other doctors who saw him & told me it was fine are no longer at the practice, FYI.) We also really loved Dr Takyi. She was with my second son at the hospital when he was born & spent a lot of time & attention with us & then remembered us over a year later! The nurses & office staff are very nice here as well. As others have mentioned the phone system is annoying & recently got worse. Now when you try to pick the “make an an appointment” option you always get a voicemail & you have to leave a message & they call you back,… sometimes. I played phone tag for a week with them recently. Also, if you actually want to talk to a doctor you have to make an appointment, telehealth or in person. The “nurses” line is manned by people who seem to have no medical knowledge at all, seem to be predominantly non native English speakers so they are often difficult to understand & sometimes seem confused by what I’m trying to communicate (every single nurse we’ve seen in person speaks flawless English, which leads me to believe these nurses don’t actually work in the office but just answer phone lines.) These “nurses” won’t tell you anything AT ALL, they simply take down a message & then call you back hours later with an (usually unhelpful) response. I get that the office needs to be profitable & Doctors deserve to get paid for their work, but when we first started going here you could at least get a doctor to call you back & the nurses you spoke with were definitely in the office with them. Now, you’re not talking to a doctor unless they’re charging your insurance for a visit. We love when we do go there though, because of the doctors & staff, so won’t be changing unless we move out of area."
"We have been going here for 15 years the doctors nurses medical assistances and front desk staff are all amazing. However like the other person said the phone system that Robert Wood Johnson switched to is horrible. Who office was only five minutes from our house so there were times where I just hung up and went over to the office in person maybe a bit inconvenient but certainly much better service. We recently relocated out-of-state and if I could travel back home for the type of care we received I would. They are all simply amazing especially with our youngest with multiple medical needs."
"I will give this office 2 stars because Dr. Lerner is a good doctor. We have been coming here for years. Unfortunately, they recently overhauled the phone service for the worse. Where you used to speak to a secretary, now you get different outsourced offices for appts, nursing line, prescriptions, etc. The people who answer the phone do not have answers to questions and can only take a name and number. The new phone service is to keep parents and their questions out, it seems. I think telephone service is a very important part of a doctor's practice and should be taken seriously, especially when it comes to pediatrics, where parents are often concerned and distressed. I am sorry to see RWJ pediatrics phone service decline like it has."
