"In May of 2022 bought an 89' FJ62 and wanted a lift installed. I called around to several shops and most of them didn't want to work on it. The ones that did, didn't leave me feeling too warm and fuzzy about having them do the work. Then a very good friend of mine suggested that I go to these guys. When I got to the shop I noticed that the parking lot was full of FJ's from Virginia and several other states. That told me that people will come from all around to have these guys work on their rigs. When I met with the owner Lance, he walked me through the entire process, gave me a quote and a start date. Soon after they started the work they ran into some serious hidden rust issues with the frame. Lance stopped the work and called me to come in and go over the issues. He spent around and hour showing me what needed to be fixed immediately for safety's sake and explained in detail why. Then he showed me the issues that I needed to be aware of but could wait for a later date. I opted to have them fix all of the issues while they already had it in the shop so I didn't have to go back on the waiting list. I could not be any happier that I did. I received I have been taking my cruiser to them for going on two years now and it drives like it is brand new. I have recommended them to multiple friends of mine and they have all had the same results. The whole team at Iron Pig is amazing! They are honest, professional, and a very hardworking group of people. If you want expert work done, look no further. David Cook"
"I recently had my classic Land Cruiser worked on at Iron Pig, and my overall experience left much to be desired. The initial impression was already negative as the atmosphere at the shop was pretentious, with the staff seemingly eager to point out every flaw in my rig as if I were personally responsible for them. One of the major issues I encountered was the recurrence of problems that I paid Iron Pig to fix. It was frustrating to shell out a significant amount of money for what turned out to be only temporary fixes. Despite their claims of using high-quality parts, I later discovered that all the "hard to find" parts used were readily available from public distributors like CityRacer, SOR, CCOT, or Toyo Dealer (OEM). This made me question the (labor) value I received for the exorbitant amount I paid, after figuring the actual cost of parts. What struck me as particularly hypocritical was their emphasis on keeping classics "ALL Original," yet they had a backlog of SMB swaps. This inconsistency in their approach raised doubts about their commitment to authenticity. Additionally, it seemed evident that they might have junior mechanics handling and managing most projects, as the quality of work on crucial components such as the motor, transmission, steering, and exhaust was subpar at best. In the end, I found myself having to rework many of their shortcomings, essentially undoing and redoing the repairs I had paid for. If you're willing to spend a considerable amount for maintenance and repairs that you could easily handle yourself, only to encounter the same issues later on, then Iron Pig might be for you. However, based on my experience, I won't be returning or recommending their services to anyone in my network. It's essential to consider other options that prioritize quality work and customer satisfaction."
"I had a significant amount of work done to my late model Tacoma, suspension, frame, tires, etc. I dealt with Lance who is the owner I believe. He was always combative/defensive if I questioned the work so there was no talking to him. They took a month longer than projected and blamed it on supply chain issues. I would go by the shop once they confirmed all items had been received but my truck still sat there. I called while sitting outside their shop and they completely lied about it being on a rack and in process when it was sitting in their parking lot. Also, they forgot to do a final quality inspection so bolts weren’t tightened and I almost lost my entire rear axle. Thankfully I heard a noise before something catastrophic happened. I should have gone with my gut when I noticed their retail area was very dirty and disorganized. Yeah, it’s a 4x4 shop but that’s where business is conducted so a reflection of their work and ethics. They’ll refute my review in a reply but again, they broke my trust on several occasions so customer beware."
"My father and I have been taking our Land Cruisers to Lance for the better part of 15 years. Every time he has produced excellent quality work and customer service. My most recent experience with him left me feeling beyond content with his customer service and care he puts into his customer relationships and work. Due to lack of time, my 100 series that I needed to replace a number of parts on sat in my workspace longer than I had hoped, and a recent medical emergency left me unable to work on vehicles for the next few months. I had my Cruiser towed to Lance (who was fine installing all the parts I purchased that I had intended on installing myself- he did mention that if they don't fit that could be a problem, but I had already cross referenced and done my diligence to purchase the correct parts). I know he's been busy so I was expecting it to sit for a couple weeks, no problem. 4 days later he lets me know it's all done- incredible! We did ask for an evaluation of the vehicle as my inspection expired while the vehicle sat, and without any problems Lance gave it a thorough going over and a personal 30 min phone call to discuss what he found and the recommended course of action. I have no reason to take my vehicles elsewhere, as Lance has delivered time and time again with excellent work and communication. 20 stars. Reading the negative reviews on here, it would seem that lack of correct OEM or aftermarket parts provided for install, and/or unfamiliarity with older Land Cruisers and their idiosyncrasies seems to contribute to sticker shock and unhappiness."
"Dropped in today to check out the shop and had a chance to meet Lance. I told him about my botched AHC delete/dobinsons install at LandCruiser Heaven in Maryland on my LX470. He got right under the vehicle, checked it, and had some of his guys fix it on the spot. He then gave us a tour of the shop and, quite frankly, spent a lot of time with us talking shop. You can tell his heart is in his business and I regret immensely ever going to LandCruiser Heaven. I’ll definitely be coming back here for more upgrades to the LX470. Btw thanks for the IPOR hat Lance!"
