Reviews of Lady Camelia
"Such a cute place. The tea and food were delicious, the cost was reasonable, and the staff was very friendly. The only drawback was that the place is very tiny. We had reservations, but couldn't be seated because a large party was still seated, taking up most of the room. Really hoping they eventually move to a bigger location. 10/10 would go again."
"My friend and I had visit this place yesterday afternoon. First, I’ll start off by saying the ambience and atmosphere of this room is absolutely fantastic. The soft, feminine, and calm atmosphere is absolutely refreshing and memorable. However, I do think that there should be some sort of communication or change made to the address on Rideshare services because the address to the tea room took me to the previous and now closed down location in Washington DC, which made me incredibly late to my reservation. When I arrived, some of the hostesses weren’t as friendly as I thought they would be. During our time spent, we really enjoyed the food and our waitress who was incredibly patient and kind to us. However, when our tier arrived, one of the hostesses pushed it on the table without allowing us to clear space on the table and almost knocked over our tea. Another server/hostess kept coming to our table to remove our dishes and to give/take our check rather quickly. I understand that there is a time limit but there was another party of 2 who were there way before us and left a little before we did and were not rushed. Nonetheless, the atmosphere and ambience of this place definitely met my expectations although the customer service did not."
"This place is not only the most beautiful place for high tea I’ve ever been to, but also has the most excellent pastries/scones and tea. The chef here is very talented- highest compliments to the pastry chef! It was very easy to reserve a table and very good prices as well. This place is so lovely I am already planning my next visits to take my mom and my girl friends."
"The location was nice, but the place was too small. Weekends it’s around $50 per person unless you order take out. Desert was okay, so was the tea.. but we thought it was overpriced. Staff were very friendly"
"I finally got a chance to visit Lady Camellia in this new location! I had been to the Georgetown one nearly 10 times and was so excited to see they reopened. This location seats more people and feels a lot more spread out. It also has huge windows that look over the water, which I was a big fan of. My friend and I went on a weekday and so we had the option to do the afternoon tea for two and it was the perfect amount of food. We had the chicken salad, egg salad, and apple/brie sandwiches. For our middle tier, we had one pain au chocolat and two white chocolate cranberry scones. For our dessert tier, we had the pistachio macaron, the chocolate hazelnut macaron, the creme brulee, and the blueberry tart (the tart was my least favorite part of the tea just because the crust was very sweet). For tea, I had the French earl grey and my friend had the strawberry mint white tea. We also each received a sauce plate with lemon curd, strawberry preserves, and clotted cream. Everything tasted great. The sandwiches had lots of filling, the scones rose a ton, and the pastries were perfect. The only areas for improvement were: it was REALLY cold in the tea room. This was because we were seated directly under a vent but I felt like I should have brought a jacket. Second, I think having a tea strainer in the tea pot (which I believe they used to do) would be better than what they have now, which is a strainer that goes over your tea cup. I kept forgetting to strain my tea and the strainer holes were too big and didn't really strain all the leaves. Neither are huge things though. I'm a big fan of this location. I felt like I could have a conversation with my friend and not feel so squished like I did in the Georgetown location. The service was amazing (they offered to refill our tea pots with hot water) and helpful. While it can be pricey, Lady Camellia does afternoon tea right and is completely worth the price (especially with the cheaper menu on the week days). It is by far the best afternoon tea place that I've found in the DMV. I love how it feels like an event and would recommend it for any special occasion that you have"
