"Was scheduled for a virtual appointment. The rep was having trouble getting the video feed to work so she requested we send in the documents. Took a few weeks to hear back. Was never given a price of how much it would cost. When they called us to ask where to deposit the return and how I wanted to pay the money owed they weren’t upfront with the amount and I had to ask. Normally when I file my taxes they’re very open about how much you owe (including the cost of filing) but this was not the case. They also told me I need to go to the location to sign the paperwork. I would not have filed with this location if I had known that would be required because I don’t live that way. What is the point of sending them via email or having a virtual appointment if we still have to go in person? I also when I filed told them I only wanted to file jointly with my partner if that would give us the best return. They didn’t look to see how much it would be if we filed separately. Overall the lack of communication and transparency made this a really bad experience and I won’t be using H&R in the future."
