I went to see her when a number of worries were hitting at the same time – most importantly, my father was dying in the midst of the pandemic, when I wasn’t able to be with him on a number of occasions, including hospitalizations. Sometimes when you’re in the midst of a particularly tough time, you don’t think you can make time to go meet with someone – but it’s important that you make time for yourself. Cindy was empathetic and helped me work through my feelings when I was being hard on myself. She gave me that safe space to talk, and she walked me through a couple of mindfulness exercises that (i) helped me get my focus during the day and (ii) helped me fall asleep at night if my mind was spinning with the issues of the day.
