"Don't think there was a session where she wasn't eating or interrupted by a phone call. Method was essentially printing/ emailing worksheets and then reading through them. No real insight or perspectives provided outside of the feedback provided in the workbooks. Perhaps this method works for some, however if you are in search of a therapist who can provide meaningful insight and direction I would look elsewhere."

"I am writing this review on behalf of a family to maintain their confidentiality. My family member is trying therapy for the first time. It took a lot for them to make this initial appointment so I was eager to hear all about it. Unfortunately it was a terrible experience. She was late and then accused them of being late. She then questioned if they even had an appointment scheduled because she didn’t see it on the books. If that’s not bad enough, she was eating! My family stated they experienced some technical issues so they ended the session early. I will not speak to her clinical skills, however this is very unprofessional. Imagine being suicidal and you finally seek help and this is how you’re treated. This is not acceptable at all! I suggest a refresher on social work ethics and professionalism. The profession and your clients deserve the best of you!"

"Unfortunately, I will have to give Karen a low rating. In the beginning of our sessions, I was pleased. However, during the end I was very disappointed. She would sometimes come on late, however scold me if I came on late. Sometimes have to pause our sessions to answer phone calls. Instead of diving to help me with my situations she would print out a work sheet on google and tell me to study it. Sometimes when I would tell her my problems, she would come across as judgmental as if they weren't important. The last straw was when she ghosted me. We had a session scheduled but she never showed. When i called her, she told me she just got out of surgery and we will have to reschedule. I told her OK and never heard from her again. Of course, I was worried so I emailed and called but never heard anything until she sent me a bill and her monthly newsletter. Luckily, I found a wonderful therapist that is sympathetic to my needs."

"I simply cannot say enough good things about Karen Allen. I've tried going to multiple therapists over the past 10 years, and have never connected with anyone like Karen. She is a wonderful, compassionate listener who is also down to earth, funny, and approachable. She recommends helpful "homework" assignments each sessions which are thoughtful, tailored, and not overly burdensome. Over the past 6 months, Karen has helped me to learn to love and accept myself.
