Reviews of Capital Womens Care
"As an expecting mother who is classified as high-risk, I was treated horribly by the staff there. On two occasions, the receptionist gave me incorrect information and made it seem like it was my fault that I didn't understand or something I should have known. Once I arrived at my appointments, they acted like I was speaking another language, although I was repeating their directions or showing them what was in my chart. During my recent visit (12.28.23), the medical assistant reviewed a questionnaire with me while I was inside the waiting room to see the doctor. She asked me if I had ART, and I asked what that was. "She said, I don't know, but I figured if you had it, you would know once you heard me say it." I was highly disturbed and confused about how this was a standard questionnaire, and she didn't know the meaning behind the acronym. I am so thankful that I had my voice memo recording my interaction because no one would believe me otherwise. Once she finished, that is when I was greeted by a lady in red scrubs who said my doctor had to leave to perform an emergency C-section and that I would need to come back. I explained to her that there needed to be another solution since I hadn't heard my baby's heartbeat (I am at 13 weeks, and they haven't done it yet) or gotten bloodwork paperwork, which is a time-sensitive procedure. She said, "No, and that I needed to call around to other places." As the wife of a cardiologist, I understand the emergency on-call situation, but there is also protocol for those situations, and it was clear they didn't have one. The doctor was irresponsible to have an office full of patients when she knew she would be on call for that patient (per a worker there who told me in confidence). As I started crying in the waiting room, another patient who was also waiting to be seen told me to find another location ASAP because the experience with them would only get worse. I called the Greenbelt location, and they said they could see me the next day. The lady at the Greenbelt location was warm, reassuring, and professional. What I have experienced during these past eight weeks with them wouldn't be tolerated in a white community, and sadly, Black women are given sub-par treatment or expected to accept any kind of care. I will not continue at this office and gladly write this review if it will help another woman."
"Whoever is answering the phone needs to be removed. I’m almost in my 3rd trimester and tried transferring from 1 location to the next and she told me there’s no appointments and I won’t be seen until next year. What sense of urgency is that? Her attitude sucks."
"Dr. Kia Elliot was knowledgeable thorough end was patient with me because I had a stroke. She is the best I appreciate her so much even though I was a new patient. She didn't make me feel any way. I had to call her on the weekend because I was spotting and she returned at my call immediately now that service."
"Kia Elliott, CRNP, she’s very personable. She pays attention to everything and makes you comfortable. She’s one of the reasons why I’m still a patient at Capital Women’s Care. The entire Staff is alway very pleasant and welcoming."
"When I was welcomed to this office, it was at a time when I was going through depression, discouragement and divorce. The customer service at Clinton was beyond my expectations! The were calm, respectful, private and kind to me. A soft answer and response always draws a wonderful, welcoming atmosphere! I am glad they had a space for me."
