"I will never return or refer anyone to this terribly inconsiderate and unorganized practice. I was seen by Dr. Jackie Nichols, whom I recommend you avoid at all costs. When I went for my first visit to establish care and confirm my pregnancy at 9 weeks along, I was not anticipating the appointment to go as it did. During the case history portion of the appointment, which only lasted 2 minutes, she did not ask me any questions about symptoms of my pregnancy, family history, concerns, past medical conditions, etc. My partner was not allowed to come due to COVID restrictions, which is understandable. I'm finally up on the ultrasound table and notice her grabbing for the wand to start the exam--- I attempted to stop her and ask her if I could please facetime my husband as this is the first time we will see our baby. She did not stop proceeding with the exam and left me scrambling to get him on the line so he doesn't miss a thing. When she couldn't see the baby with the traditional wand she opted for a transvaginal ultrasound. Without any warning, she shoved the wand into me, hard causing me to wince in pain. Then she flatly says "i don't see anything"...... Leaving us confused. What does that mean? The exam was then over and she stated "looks like it didn't take". She did not tell us we were having a miscarriage. She did not tell us what to expect, what red flags for complications to watch out for, how this would affect future pregnancies, or follow up care. We were so confused that we truly hadn't understood we were having a miscarriage until she handed me my lab slip stating "threatened miscarriage" as the diagnosis code. She did not provide condolences. Handouts, instructions, aftercare emergency phone numbers, or even understanding of what was happening. As a doctor who works at a hospital and provides families with bad news every day, we at least provide our patients with handouts, email addresses, direct contact numbers, support groups, and distinct outlines for follow up care. I was then contacted 4 days later where an assistant provided me with my HCG levels--- still no word on actual follow up instructions regarding my miscarriage. She informed me I would be receiving a phone call in a few hours with word on next steps. I did not receive a phone call for 4 more DAYS when I was told at 2 pm in the afternoon that I needed to come to their office for bloodwork by 4 pm, same day. I was left a voicemessage that was cutting in and out, with no call back number provided. When I called the office for clarification, I was put on hold for 10 minutes before I hung up and called back, all just to be told the lab hours. When I arrived the receptionist asked me how far along I was and I blatantly told her that I was having a miscarriage, she told me to go sit down and wait. Then someone came out who rudely contradicted the fact that I have still not been told anything about what was going on with my body or what my follow up plan looked like. As someone else stated, for an office that works with pregnant women, they do a horrific job at providing bad news, mental health support, follow up care, and have no consideration for the amount of stress and devastation their patient sustain from their unprofessionalism and lack of communication. I will be forever changed by that moment, in that exam room, with that doctor. It is a scene in my life that I will be able to playback in vivid detail-- from the seat I was in, where she sat, and the look on my husband's face on the video call in front of me. Physician's should be more aware of the roles they play in their patient's lives. That their actions will live on in some patient's memories for eternity, and they should present themselves as a helpful guide through a moment of devastation rather than an unempathetic human who's time you were wasting. If I could leave zero stars, I would."
"Love Dr. Nichols!"
"Doctor Nichols has delivered all 3 of my children via c-section and I would recommend her to everyone. She was a wonderful doctor and surgeon."
