Reviews of Dr. Carmen L. Farrior, MD
"I wouldn’t recommend Dr. Farrior and her office to my worse enemy. What prompted me to write this review is what’s going on in the media with celebrity doctor, Dr. Jackie. It has triggered me and made me emotional because black women seek out black doctors thinking the level of care, compassion, and love will supersede the care provided by a doctor of another race. Sadly, that’s not always the case. Last year I was pregnant and miscarried. I chose Dr. Farrior as my OB/GYN because she (her office) came highly recommended. I was told both doctors in the office were “the best.” I needed a doctor closer to home and really wanted someone who partnered with my preferred hospital of choice for delivery. Instead of the best, I received the worse. This was my first pregnancy. On my first appointment she handed me a packet and asked me if I had any questions. She told me everything I needed to know was in the packet. I was caught off guard by her approach and immediately forgot any questions I had. Her second question was if I had experienced any spotting/bleeding. When I answered light spotting, she said she would give me a referral for an ultrasound and blood work. I was scheduled to leave for a trip to London/Paris within a week of my first visit and was going to be away from home for 3 weeks. I made this known to Dr. Farrior and her nurse. I ended up having a blighted ovum pregnancy and Dr. Farrior and her team dropped the ball SEVERAL times. They were rude, unprofessional, cold, and careless. I had my initial ultrasound and needed a follow up within a week (I pushed back my departure date). They neglected to submit the paperwork for my 2nd ultrasound. When I got to the center I had to sit and wait for 30+ min for them to contact her office and obtain the orders. Keep in mind it’s on a full belly of water. When I called the office myself trying to get them to send the order the girl in the office rudely stated “Didn’t you just have an ultrasound last week?!” How insensitive is that?! I always approached my messages with Dr. Farrior with excitement and warmth. She never returned it and rarely greeted me with a salutation. When I expressed my frustrations regarding the lack of care and negligence her exact response was, “There was an oversight in the office… if you are not comfortable with the care you are receiving I do recommend you consider getting a new physician.” Cold and unapologetic. However, get a new physician is exactly what I did. I now see Dr. Jennie Faber in Owings Mills and she is PHENOMENAL. She isn’t black but she’s the best doctor I’ve ever had. She’s everything I hoped Dr. Farrior would’ve been. I pray that this review and all the others left by black women helps someone else."
"Today was my first visit with Dr. Farrior and I am happy to have found her. The check in process was easy (as a first time patient I was expecting a longer than normal wait while insurance was being verified). Paula the nurse who sat at the front desk was very professional and friendly. I didn’t catch the nurses name who took me back but she was also professional. Dr. Farrior has excellent bedside manners. She asked questions, listened to my answers and offered me solutions to my issues. She spoke to me with compassion and respect. Thank you!!"
"Dr. Farrior delivered my baby and it was the worst experience of my life. I arrived to the hospital with a fever and despite my negative Covid results, she wouldn’t allow my partner in the operating room during my c-section. She lacked bedside manner and she was unfriendly while communicating with my partner and I. Her responses were cold and it just seemed as if she was in a rush. While she’s cutting me open, she says out loud that she hadn’t performed this procedure in a long time, which was completely inappropriate. Following my procedure, her and the operating team wheeled me into post op and that was the last time I saw her. I stayed in the hospital, following the c-section, for 8 days and not once did she come to check on me. I was told she was too busy to stop by."
"I had been going to Farrior for years since a teen, she even delivered my daughter years ago. Don’t know what happened but she hasn’t seemed to not care as much for a while. The appointments are in and out and they don’t make you feel comfortable and that you have a doctor who cares. The lack of compassion and empathy was absent. I got little to no communication unless i reached out first, & when i attempted to let her know how i felt i was immediately told maybe i should find another provider. If you want a doctor who makes you feel comfortable and makes you feel like they care this is not the doctor for you if anything ever goes down a different path for your health you will not get the education and understanding that you need. The nurse is great she does her best but i don’t know call me crazy for wanting a more gentle GYN"
"No communication at all. When I said something to the staff about their lack of communication her response was, “we send out letters”. That is unacceptable. I am a new patient, my first visit was on November 30th. I went for abnormal and painful cycles. I saw all of my lab results on my portfolio, I HAD TO CALL the office for someone to go over the results with me. Here it is December 31st. I have not heard from the doctor yet. after reading my lab results someone should have contacted me by now. As a NEW PATIENT she didn’t even seem interested in me explaining to her what was going on. I WILL NOT be going back to Carmen Farrior she and her staff appears to be careless. Don’t waste your time with her. I wish I would have read these reviews before scheduling my appointment with her."
