"I never post reviews but it is tax season and the thought of anyone else wasting as much time/energy as I have is pushing me to post this. Filed my 2021 taxes with this company. It has been over ten months since I recieved letters from two states (minor issues) that need follow up by Apex with no solutions. I have followed up numerous times with the person that did my taxes and often get ignored until I press and push. It shouldn't be this hard. Now, I get regular phone calls asking to set up a 2022 tax appointment despite being clear that I won't be coming back/asking to not be called again about 2022. I keep hoping the phone calls are a resolution, but apparently they have more time to try and schedule people to pay for another appointment than earn the money that was already spent last year. Horrible experience. Edit: The reply below it typical. Took three months to even see the negative review. This is the first I've heard from your company since my last e-mail in March, which was ignored (again) and prompted this post. Why not answer my email instead of my review?"
"First year working with this company. Worked with a newly hired accountant who was absolutely stellar. Nick was really easy to get a hold of, went over everything with me, and even answered some questions I didn't know to ask. I plan on using their financial planning services now that taxes are done. With how well everything else went I'm looking forward to working with them on the planning aspect as well. Would highly recommend."
"There is a previous post that is singing the praises of Sherri Diamond, but I beg to differ on that. She is the one that did my taxes for 2021 and caused there to be penalties for lateness. My wife and I went back to apex for our second year. We had a black woman our first year at apex. We set our appointment for the second year with the same lady but for some reason the woman that did our taxes the year before was moved out and replaced by Sherrie. My wife and I make good money, maybe it was an opportunity to get a good fee. We used Sherrie's tax service before the merger with no issue and she never did our taxes back then either. My wife and I went to our appointment, but left needing to provide additional documents for medical and stock expenses. We provided those documents and made another appointment to sign our return prior to the filing deadline and expected our return to be submitted. Sherrie informed my wife and I that we owed due to capital gains tax. I was not aware that our return was submitted late and we now owed penalties until a few months later when I thought I waited too long and began to investigate what the status of our account was. We knew we owed and expected to hear from the feds and the state. During the time I was waiting to hear from the feds and state, I was never informed that my return was submitted late or provided an explanation of what happened to cause the return to be submitted late. I don't have any formal explanation, but I was told by Sherrie that there was trouble submitting it. I have come to know that Sherrie has been vacationing excessively in the past year and I wonder if that interfered with my return being submitted late. The money I paid to have my taxes done might have contributed to those vacations. I contacted them about the penalties and Sherrie was on vacation every time I called. I spoke to a different person at apex and was told that they would file an appeal when I could give them a copy of the letters I should receive from the state and irs. I was able to establish an official payment plan with the irs but not with the state. I'm not sure if the documents I have are what apex can use to file an appeal but my primary concern was to establish the payment plan with the state also. I called apex again 2 weeks ago to request a copy of the return of 2021 with a signature sheet and was told by someone that answers the phone that it would be taken care of. I had to call again after not receiving it and was given the run around. First Sherrie was calling back at 7 pm. She didn't call and I called again and was told someone would call when he was done all of his appointments. The guy called me finally and gave me a hard time about giving me a copy of my return. He was extremely arrogant and was telling me he didn't have to provide it a copy. He eventually said he would send the copy in the next few days but I have yet to receive it. I received a document from the state that said final notice, even though I never got any other notices from the state. They gave me a deadline to appeal the penalty but I need a copy of the return with a signature sheet to show we signed before the filing g deadline. I have not received my copy still. The guy I spoke with said they are busy and they don't have to give it to me. Find another place and especially don't let Sherrie do your taxes, she is always on vacation. That's what she said. I not sure why I received this special mistreatment. I need to ask. DON'T USE THESE PEOPLE!"
"Filed my first tax return with Apex and as someone who is new to this, they did a good job of guiding me through the process. Tasheira Zimmerman kept me fully up to date with everything and responded to all my messages and calls quickly. I had a great, stress-free experience, will be doing business with them again. 10/10 recommend"
"John Miller at Apex Taxes has been preparing my taxes for both my mother and I for over 15 years since my first job in high school! It is always a pleasure to see him every year and catch up. He is a true professional and sincerely one of the nicest people that I have ever met. I highly recommend having him prepare your taxes and/or any of the other financial services that Apex provides. He is a great source of knowledge on the process and as stated above is a real stand up guy!"
