"Edit up to two stars from one since i was able to get a full refund with zero hassle. Keep in mind that I would have never known there was a problem if I didn't have my pc RGB lights set up to indicate CPU temp. Had the geek squad install a new GPU, PSU, and water cooled CPU cooler. Got home, fires up a game, instantly my whole tower lights up red. Again, if I didn't have this light configuration, I would have kept gaming until my CPU died a premature death. Open the program to check temps, and the CPU is running at 212°F. Everything else is in normal temp ranges. Quick guance inside the tower, they installed the radiator fans backward. Flipped them myself, then the CPU is at 199°F. 13° cooler, better, but still bad. Tried calling them a few dozen times over a few days. No one ever answered the phone. Left one message: I did get a call back over 24 hours later, but I was at work and couldn't answer. Called a few more times, but there was no answer. Had a buddy tell me to see if they did a poor job with the thermal paste. Take off the cooling unit and identify that they left the dang sticker on the connection plate that blatantly says to remove. Now my CPU runs at around 100°, the highest I've seen is 118°. Two big rookie mistakes I would have expected myself to make, not the professionals."
"Geek squad technicians are awesome, it’s the terrible customer care- via chat & telephone.. I’ve received bogus a email alleging total tech renewal at charge of $419 is due. Contacted both- chat and phone to verify if customary, as email under Geek Squad cover and 45 days in advance. Both replied I’m in sales and referred me to contact 888#, exact # dialed.. and try chat w/ an agent. What! Both referred me to the other.. Decided to reach out to invoice sender. The person answered Yes, we s are Geek Squad, may I help you?.. replied: Sure here’s my account phone #, I’m calling in ref. to an invoice.. He then says ok, I ask can you verify the invoice based on my telephone #. He abruptly hung up.. Beware of scammers!"
"I bought a new laptop while I was visiting Stafford VA for a week. Even though they were swamped with Christmas work, the store Geek Squad helped me get my new laptop up and running - including taking the time to research and convert my 2007 One Note notebooks to run in my new 2019 version! Lifesaver!!"
"This review is for a specific Geek Squad tech. We brought are computer in and were told the repair would cost almost what we paid for the computer. So when we came in to pick up our new paperweight, Brian, who has helped us before, offered to pull the hard drive and place it in a silver bag to protect the integrity of the data. We have been doing business with this Best buy for years. We have generally received good customer service. I believe that Brian is the very best and his standard of customer service should be Geek Squad and Best Buy's template. We will be back to get a new computer and hope Brian will be there for our tech needs. Thank you."
"I would not recommend using Geek Squad to insure your phone if you have AT&T. The regular AT&T insurance is just fine. My horrible experience with Geek Squad has nothing to do with the nice employees at the store who attempted to help me. I bought a defective Galaxy Note 4 that needed to be replaced for software issues and Geek Squad exchanged it with another refurbished and defective Galaxy Note 4. After several months of issues with the phone's messaging and time keeping, I attempted to have them replace my phone again. The problem was that they decided to cut my insurance without notifying me (But they swear they sent me an email that probably bounced to my junk mail) because I had lost my credit card, canceled it, and got a new one. Without making an attempt beyond that email, they canceled the insurance and I am stuck with the defective phone they gave me until my next upgrade. This would not have been an issue with AT&T because their customer support is actually very good. Geek Squad's customer support did nothing for be but say they could do nothing about it. Geek Squad failed several times in customer satisfaction for me and I am appalled by the way I was treated with them. I used to be a loyal customer with PC repairs, but I will take my business elsewhere. When I spoke with customer service, I was met with rude tones before I even spoke to them, and I managed to speak with a supervisor. She was equally rude and unhelpful. Basically, Geek squad took several months of payments from me and did not help me when I needed it. Terrible customer service."
