"Lian was fantastic. Arrived on time and did great work. (Mainline snake as preventive maintenance). Was thorough and resolved the issue."
"Plumber = 5/5. Dispatch and overall experience = 2/5. Value for price = 2/5. Called RR when our kitchen sink was clogged and all of our efforts to clear it - plunger and Drano and hand-held household snake - failed. Plumber was friendly and competent. But he reached us almost 4 hours in to my TWO HOUR window. I’d kept pushing dinner back and back and back - finally had to move forward with it - so of course he arrived in the 15 minutes I needed to be in our tiny kitchen. Dispatch had promised me a call back to update me on when to expect him, but that didn’t happen. Also, while I fully expected to pay an “emergency tax” - to pay a highly inflated price given same-day service - I feel like almost $800 is a LOT to charge for less than 90 minutes of work. I absolutely respect the trades and tradesfolk definitely should be well compensated … but that seemed awfully high."
"Very, VERY overpriced. I needed a section of copper pipe replaced. I did all the prep work myself including locating the leak behind the wall (the most time consuming part of the process), cutting away an access in the wall, setting up lights, and buying the replacement copper piping BEFORE i called a plumber. When I spoke to the Roto-Rooter dispatcher I told her it was not an emergency call and to see if they had anyone available in the next couple days. She said they had one guy that afternoon. I said great, it's not a tough job. Probably a half hour worth of work. I would've done it myself if I owned a Pro-Press tool. So the guy comes, looks at the pipe, and quotes me an astonishing $490 to do a job that I could literally do myself in a half hour with his tool. I told him no way. Then he starts this negotiation asking what do I think it's worth. I told him $150. Eventually we agreed on $300 plus materials and I wasn't happy about it but at least we got to turn the water back on that night. I looked online and it said most Roto-Rooter guys are paid $30 per hour, not sure how true that is, but I know they took me for $350 and I supplied 90% of the materials and he was there for like 1 hour. Kind of a rip off. Len the plumber operates the same way. I won't use either Roto-Rooter or Len again. Highly recommend finding a good honest neighborhood plumber that's self employed. I'll give them a second star only because the plumber himself was conscientious and did a good job on the part he had to do."
"I had a wonderful experience with Roto Rooter! My technician, Richard Bush quickly assessed the problem, quoting me a fair price. He then fixed the problem and thoroughly cleaned after doing so. He gave us a lot of information on what the problem was, why it happened and how we can recognize problems in the future. Clearly, Richard is an asset to the Roto Rooter team and we will call him back again if we need service again!"
"It wasn’t cheap.. but we had a serious main line plumbing issue.. 8am I called … 1pm they arrived.. 12:30am and 2 trucks later they left.. they won’t leave until the job is done .. my job ended up at $2k but that is a whole lot cheaper then a flooded basement of p**p .."
