Reviews of Barnes & Noble
"Won’t let you buy anything. I went at 10am on a Sunday looking for a specific book in stock. I asked for help finding it from someone stocking books. They told me 2 locations but I was unable to find it. They couldn’t help further. I found something else to buy and went to the back register. No one was there. I tried the other register and no one was there. So I put my items down and left. This is why Amazon is winning."
"Today was my first and last trip to this store. The woman with the blond hair working in the children’s section was utterly rude. I was there with my 15 month old son. He likes taking books off the shelf and stacking them. He was doing that with the Curious George paperback books, handing them to me and I was piling them up. Every so often I’d put them back on the shelf so he could take them off again. I felt someone looking at us and turned around to see the aforementioned employee standing behind the register and glaring at us. Occasionally she’d also sigh. Then she made a big show of coming over and moving some hardback books that were near us but that my son hadn’t touched. All that did was call his attention to that area, so then he went over and started picking up those books. At one point he walked around with one, with me following right behind him. When we got back to that section the woman was there rearranging the Curious George books. They were in no particular order when we got there, but apparently she didn’t like the order in which I placed them. My son walked right up to her and was standing right beside her. I said “oops, sorry” and she got up and walked away without saying a word. How incredibly rude is that?! He’s a toddlers and his behavior was developmentally appropriate. She’s a grown adult and her behavior was rude and unprofessional. I went up front and asked to speak with the manager. A woman came out and I told her all this, and she just said she’d talk to the employee. She made absolutely no effort to try to turn our negative experience into a positive one. Apparently this store suffers from poor management in addition to rude staff. I was other parents of young children to know this is not a child friendly store and they should not waste their time coming here. To Barnes & Noble: If you don’t want kids to touch books in your stores, don’t have a kid’s department. And if you do keep a kid’s department, staff it with someone who likes kids or at the very least isn’t completely miserable."
"My family and I constantly go to this store and have never had any problems. But today, in the children's area, they placed a person who does not like children. My oldest son is ten years old, with two friends of the same age, and my youngest is six. We were looking at books, and at some point, they started running into the children's area; this person caught their attention, and it seemed fitting to me. I also asked them to stay calm, so they took books, read them, and returned them to their place, but this person kept giving them a sour face. They are 10-year-old boys; they already realize things and feel uncomfortable. So, what is the idea of having a children's area where children will feel uncomfortable?"
"I could be left alone here for hours! Nice to find a Barnes and Nobles brick and mortar store after so many have closed on the west coast and across the country. An Excellent place to sit and sip and book browse. Large nice bookstore with every imaginable category and topic. Nice large cafe with WiFi, serving Starbucks coffee. If you’re re old-school and love music, a large selection of vinyl LPs and CDs. Also a huge kids section. And if you want a fold-out paper map ( like I love to use) they have lots of paper maps. And don’t forget magazines, puzzles and art/drawing sketchbooks and supplies."
"The Barnes and Noble in The Promenade in Center Valley is large, airy, clean, and well organized. The employees are kind and helpful. There is handicapped parking, and the majority of the store is handicapped accessible. The cafe, unfortunately, is not as it has stairs. I found a planner that I was looking for. I love that it's funny, inappropriate, yet helpful all at the same time. They have a decent clearance section and everything that you'd expect to find in a book store, plus some. Overall, it is a great bookstore."
