Reviews of Spirit Forge Martial Arts
"I chose Spirit Forge because it looked true to the art. I was looking for a place where I could not only learn martial arts/self defense, but learn how to calm my mind as well. Master Moore was quick to get back to me and as an instructor he is able to explain the movements in a way that’s easy to understand. As a newcomer there’s much I have to learn but I don’t feel pressure and the other students are encouraging. It’s work but everyone is motivating and I leave class feeling refreshed. If you are looking for a place that’s true to judo and taekwondo, I highly recommend Spirit Forge!"
"I was introduced to Spirit Forge Martial Arts by a friend who had been talking repeatedly about how great Master Moore is. Since I took the first class I started training and have learned a whole new set of skills, including self defense. I love this school and I highly recommend it!"
"I've been at Spirit Forge Martial Arts for about six months now, and joining is the best decision I've made in a long time. Judo is a great workout and stress reliever that also helps you develop self-discipline. This dojo combines the qualities of Judo with a nice atmosphere. Master Moore is a patient and kind instructor, my fellow students are friendly and encouraging. Everyone is there for the love of Judo and only wants to help each other improve. The monthly dues are very affordable ($60 a month for a single adult) and classes are three times a week (Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday). You can practice Judo or Taekwondo. Best of all, for me at least, is that Spirit Forge is a very comfortable place to be if you're a woman. Judo is a full-contact sport, but it's never awkward here. Everyone is respectful, yet you don't feel like you're being treated differently because you're a woman, which is a rare balance to find. I cannot recommend this place highly enough."
"Great Dojo! This is definitely a hidden gem in the Pittsburgh area. It is very diverse, inclusive, and supportive in every way. I started coming here this past summer to spend more time with my son and husband only to have found a niche for myself as well. There are students at all levels, grade-school aged children as well as more advanced students in all belt levels and age. Belts are earned rather than given and Master Moore does a great job preparing students for success in both Judo and Tae Kwon Do. We get the added bonus of learning both Japanese and Korean terms along the way. I have physical limitations but everyone has been accommodating to my needs. With modified warm ups, I am able to participate fully and feel a great sense of accomplishment at the end of every class. I love the growth mindset model of this dojo and everyone continues to encourage growth through perseverance. In the three months that I've been attending, I've definitely noticed a positive change in my mental and physical health. The flat monthly rate is a steal in comparison to the amount of hours you can practice at the dojo and the personal growth that has come from this experience. I highly recommend checking out this dojo if you are looking for a diverse, inclusive, and all around supportive environment."
"My wife, son, and I have been training with SFMA for several months now, and we absolutely love it. Classes are challenging and rewarding--exercises are scaled to the level of the participant. The more advanced students are excellent role models for beginners. The same is true, of course, of Master Moore. His skill in and knowledge of judo and tae kwon do are eclipsed only by his passion for those martial arts and his commitment to his students."
