Reviews of Hemlock Neversink
"My family & I were at Hemlock Neversink earlier this week - and had a great time….. for most part. First, the wonderful things: - It’s a beautiful space. Very nicely designed. Sustainable and luxurious. A morning walk with Meghan, the goat lady and her nine goats was a big highlight. Can’t recommend it enough. - Wonderful yoga space and morning class. - Very nice common areas for relaxation. - The spa area was also very nice with good services. - Almost all the staff we encountered (Sal, Devon, and the bartender in the dining room, Ayla in the spa, other folks helping with the grounds) were super-friendly and welcoming. Thank you! Except for the lady at the front desk. For some reason (and it’s possible it was just us that she took a dislike to), she was the opposite of warm & welcoming. We had three separate encounters with her over the course of 24 hours - and each time walked away feeling small, like naughty children who needed to be punished. The last time was on our way out - when we were told very sternly (in the main lobby, no less) that we had inconvenienced the kitchen by eating lunch when we were not supposed to and that we should not do that the next time we were there. For context, lunch was half a roasted avocado with some salad leaves and a small bowl of turnip-milk soaked rice. After having spent over $2,000 for three, for a night at the place, I definitely think there could have been a much nicer & more hospitable way to have communicated this to us. At the end of that day, this one experience completely ruined an otherwise wonderful time. I don’t usually write reviews unless I am blown away or I am very disappointed. Unfortunately this was the latter. Of course this may be an exception and she is really nice to everyone else that tries out this new place! UPDATE: I appreciated the follow up call and conversation with Hemlock."
"Our stay at Hemlock Neversink was one I’ll carry with me for a long while. It’s a new resort, but they are absolutely on the right path to success. The spa was next level. I have no notes. Carol is absolutely amazing and is undeniably the best massage therapist I’ve ever had, period. The goats are fabulous! We did a goat hike and there is something magically enhancing about them. I’m not a hiker, but I found myself enjoying this hike. The activities schedule was fun and I found it to be just enough to keep my focus. They helped me stay in the moment, reminding me to let go. The art director is fabulous! She really feels like a friend you’ve had for years. There is absolutely an art therapy vibe to this location. That said, the art room could definitely use a bit of help remaining stocked. The yarn room is INCREDIBLE. A dream come true for the knitter/crocheter. More crochet hooks need to be available in different sizes. I’m glad I bought my own, otherwise I would not have been able to crotchet. Adding more scissors, cutters, glue sticks and crotchet tools will make a huge difference. There is so much potential in this room. I can’t wait to come back We did a shamanic drumming circle, and it was a great experience! I always go into this type of thing thinking it’s not going to give me much and I leave crying and feeling whole. I highly recommend going out of your comfort zone to try new things. The restaurant was cool! We tried foods we’ve never had before and it was fun to get a taste of the more healthier alternatives to some of our favorite foods. We do wish there was at least ONE meat option per day. The skirt steak was delicious and we gobbled it while the moment we laid eyes on it. The continental side of breakfast is killer. Hands down- the best croissant I’ve ever had in my life! We were there for 4 days and the breakfast options hadn’t changed. We loved the salmon, but towards the end of our trip we were a little over it. Dinner and lunch were all good. LOTS of soup and LOTS of chickpeas, lentils and beans. So much so, I started having some issues feeling a little tummy ache from somewhat of an overload. This is where having more protein would have helped add more variety. My favorite meal was the cod. Dessert was always a treat! The chocolate mousse is something I will dream about. The last thing I MUST say is how beautiful all the plants are on this resort. I kept feeling them to see if they were real and was not once disappointed! Plants bring so much positive energy and this resort has tons of them! They are so cool. I would have loved to do a tour with the horticulturalist. Or if it had some labeling so I could replicate at home. Overall, our stay was great. We will definitely be back for more."
"Gorgeous upstate resort, perfect for a retreat by yourself or with friends. I went for a restorative trip by myself and highly recommend it to any other overworked, stressed out moms out there! They make an itinerary for you (no decisions about what to do or when!) And you start your day with a lengthy stretch and yoga session. After that, you get an amazing farm-fresh breakfast and then you can follow your itinerary or do whatever you want. Truly relaxing from the moment you arrive to the time you leave. Bonus - it's a brand new property so all the spa equipment is state of the art. Well worth the money."
"I had a great time at Hemlock Neversink. From driving up the long driveway and seeing the campus on the horizon to the friendly welcome desk to the chic bedroom, my introduction to Hemlock was fantastic. Adding in the spa treatments and amazing relaxation room and the crafts like mosaics to the unforgettable and fun goat hike, my getaway kept getting better. Then I had the food - wow! 5 star dining - what an experience. I have suggested Hemlock Neversink to friends and know I’ll be coming back."
