"We had a wonderful time through New Years. Beautiful historic hotel with a art deco decor. The staff were fantastic and solved a room problem quickly. Special thanks to Jason Smith (manager) for his special attention. We'll be back next year."

"DO NOT STAY HERE Room: As soon as I got to the top floor which my room was located, the floor smelled like mold. I was anticipating the room to be better, but the smell was far worse. Not only the smell, but the floor had the appearance that it was not changed since the building was built. The furniture and cabinets all had clear signs of water damage and had chips in it. Service: Once I left my room, I complained to the receptionist and they would not change rooms or give refund since I booked through Chase. The receptionist informed me that I can only cancel the reservation through Chase. I called Chase to cancel the hotel and I was informed that the general manager would not let me get a refund for the hotel because it was a non-refundable reservation. I guess its my fault for not buying a refundable reservation. I felt cheated and left the hotel without getting any of my 2-night stay payment back. Location: The location was pretty good considering I was able to walk down a few blocks to a better hotel. Tl;dr: Terrible smell everywhere on my room floor, old uncleaned carpet, Management needs be changed, hotel will not give you your money back, and good location."

"Good location, awful rooms. This isn’t a four star hotel. It’s a three star hotel with a fancy lobby. The beds are cheap and uncomfortable. The rooms are tiny. And worst of all, the rooms have paper thin walls. The people in the room next to me were having very reasonable volume phone conversations and I could hear every word crystal clear. Don’t stay here unless you have to."

"Great location! Walked from Union Station to Allegro in less than 15 minutes. Able to freely walk around Chicago safely to and from the Allegro Hotel. The hotel itself has a comforting atmosphere with great energy! Everyone is friendly and helpful. The beds are amazingly soft. One problem noted was mold on two of the pillow cases/ pillows. This was addressed immediately with the manager who rectified the situation and apologized for the uncleanliness of the room. The room itself consisted of Charter Cable, a mini fridge, an ironing board, iron, hairdryer, and 2 extra pillows. The furniture was dated, though in working condition. One recommendation would be to try the 312 restaurant! The breakfast was divine :)"

"This is a great hotel, but you need to manage expectations. The rooms are tiny, but very comfortable. There is a lot of noise, not just from being downtown but because the building is older, so bring earplugs if that is an issue. The water pressure and hot water are amazing, a rare treat in a hotel!! The service is excellent, the location is very convenient, and the value is appropriate."
