"I was just up with family for a fishing weekend. However the rooms are very small ....the bathroom is a small closet like. It was clean good enough for a place to rest your head. This is not a luxury hotel. If your looking for luxury stay closer to I-90 ...most of the hotels around the Steelhead Inn are for the anglers who just looking for a warm room and bed after a long day of fishing."
"STAY AWAY. I honestly wasn't going to leave a bad review. I'm fact we were about as nice as we could have been about this place. I was aware for the price I wasn't getting top notch things or service. But to no one's fault we had to cut our stay short. I was told by the owner that because we booked with Travelocity, that we would have to call them for a refund of the two nights we weren't staying. THAT WAS A LIE. I'm fact they decide wether or not you get your refund. Why wouldn't she just tell me that. Naturally they declined and kept our money. I even asked for at least one night considering we didn't leave until noon. Like I said , we were nice, even with Travelocity when asked about the conditions of the hotel. Obviously these people don't care aslong as they get their money. Money that they absolutely do not put into their business. Why buy a business it if you can't afford it* Note * Don't sit on the edge of the bed... it completely flips up in the air. Pretty sure the mattress doesn't fit the frame. And smoke all you want , don't worry the smoke detectors are Velcroed to the wall with no batteries ( owner said our must not have been changed out yet , and had no idea where the battery went , I had to show him where it was supposed to go. ) I cleaned the filter my self for the AC as it was filled with gunk. And if your happen to have any medical condition such as seizures, leave the light off. The flickering will put you over the edge. To the owner, please know I've never posted a review before. I'm really not that person and very understanding. But what you did was wrong and I hope you see that. We left the room the way we found it and gave you no reason to basically steal our money. We even offered to receive one night back instead of 2. Good Luck"
"Rooms are the worst! Outlet taped to the wall, tight, tigh, tight rooms. A/C is sporadic, rooms dont maintain constant temps. Ice machine broken. First room, toilet rotated 90 degrees, second room blood on sheets and dirt ball on comforter, third room.. well if there were vacancies elsewhere we would have left. Beds not very comfortable. Sleep on the sand for a better night's rest. The help, seemed there was only one and she was working hard to assist us. I give her 5 out of 5 for customer service."
"AVOID AT ALL COST. STAY AT ANY OTHER PLACE One positive thing I can say is the owner allowed us to check in way before the actual check-in time. But that's about the only positive thing I can say. Prior checking into the room early, the owner had canceled one of the rooms entirely (only needed one night cancelled prior to arriving) and then rebooked it at a higher rate. When confronted about the situation, she was very defensive and couldn't give a reasonable explanation to why she did so. Upon entering two of the three rooms that were rented, one smelled of cigarettes and pee that was trying to be masked by a fragrance spray. The other room smelled like moldy food and a strong fragrance. The toilets in all of the rooms did not flush until after conveniently being kicked out. There is peeling wallpaper/ paint throughout the entire room. The microwaves barely work. One of the rooms still had an old bowl of food in it for who knows how long. One of the refrigerators was left open, therefore the freezer had frosted over. The microwaves barely kept the food cold. The rooms also had fire detectors that were not working and one of them had fallen off the wall. We were told we would be able to utilize the pool and an ice machine while staying here. The ice machine was out of service the first day and on the second day it was turned back on and barely made any ice. The pool was nasty and we were eventually told a water line needed replaced. When requesting for our rooms to be cleaned the second day after finding the food in the microwave, the owner became verbally aggressive, called the cops and we were kicked out. Come to find out the next day, she charged and extra $250. My family has been staying at this motel for years and it was just recently taken over by a different owner. This once was a place for fishermen to stay but has been stripped of all abilities to allow a good experience. Also, there is no longer a fish cleaning station."
"We stayed here with our Family for a long weekend getaway to Presque Isle and Waldameer. It's a typical retro-style, quaint, privately owned roadside motel, so if you are expecting high level service or "chain" type operation, this is not it. We got exactly what we came for, comfortable beds, clean rooms, refrigerator, microwave, air-conditioned, TV, hot showers, everything was clean and worked. Our room had a little table and we all gathered for coffee and our own "continental" breakfast. The swimming pool is little, but kids enjoyed playing there. If I had one suggestion for the owners it would be to consider laminate floors instead of carpet as next updates, it may be a personal preference, but I think they are easy to keep clean and improve air quality."
