"Terrible experience. When I first entered I wasn't greeted I sat down and waited about 15 minutes before anyone even spoke to me. I gave Raymond Reinhart my tax documents which included quite a few W-2's as well as numerous 1099's. Not only did he misspell my last name on every document for fed, state, and local he made no effort to contact me regarding the specifics of my 1099's. He proceeded them with the wrong tax code and made NO DEDUCTIONS! I'm glad I looked over my return. I would have been liable for 100% of the income I earned. Thankfully H&R block corporate sent me to a seasoned tax Professional at their York branch. She got my fed tax liability from $4,000 down to $900! She also took the time to go over all my deductible expenses for my 1099s and saved me thousands compared to what Mr. Reinhard had prepared. All that being said they have a large sign in the lobby saying they guarantee you the best textra turn with a 100% money back guarantee. They charged me $452 for the worst tax return I have ever recived! I have been on the phone with the customer care line 4 times and each time I am told they would get back to me in 5-7 days and never have! 0/10 would not recommend Shrewsbury H&R Block!"

"Very disappointed with process this year. Sat in the waiting room over 20 minutes while taxes were worked on with no notice. Cost way too much for this process. Supposed to be an in person appointment. What happened to discussion and seeing what is being prepared in real time?"

"This office (Shrewsbury, PA.) is an absolute nightmare. First off the Sunday I was there to have my taxes done there was only my agent in the office. There was no one up front to deal with people coming in or to answer phones. What should have only been an hour experience turned into a 3 hour ordeal because of the phones ringing and people needed assistance in the front. Next my tax agent was not prepared by notes about my situation that the office manager insisted she had attached to my file. Because of the complexity of my situation my preparer had to do research on how to resolve my issue instead of having done so before my scheduled appointment. My biggest complaint is the fact that this office released my tax return and pertinent information to someone they were explicitly informed not to give it to. My tax preparer noted this in my file and attached a large note to the front of my folder with these exact directions. Yet when this person entered their office they ignored these instructions and handed over my stuff to them. When I immediately called after finding this out I was met with excuse after excuse as to why this happened and a non apologetic attitude along with it. This is absolutely unacceptable and completely abhorrent how this office operates. Save yourself the time and headache and find somewhere else to have your taxes prepared. I am now in for a long nightmare of dealing with an issue they created. I have also filled a complaint with the corporate office about this. Needless to say H&R Block will NEVER see my business or that of anyone I know ever again."

"I made a tax appointment last year fur this year. I arrived and was told I must drop off my taxes and they should be done in about 48 hours. I had to call and follow-up the following week. I was then told they were started (very simple tax return) and still didn't receive a call until the 2 week mark. If you aren't going to provide the in person tax professional then why am I charged the same amount. Next year I will do them myself."

"We were asked if we wanted to have the payment taken directly out of our refund instead of paying while we were there. However, we were not told that there was a $39.95 charge to do it. Had we known that we would certainly have just paid it by credit card. We also were asked if we just wanted the check from IRS mailed to us so we said sure since I forgot to bring our check book with us with our bank routing information. I then see that we were charged $25.00 for something called a Federal RT Check fee. I noticed all this right after we left the office, so we returned immediately to ask about it and was told they would have to look into it. No one could tell us what the Federal RT Check fee was, and after googling, I'm still not sure. It is extreme poor business practice to charge these fees without disclosing them and explaining them to customers. It's reeks of a scam frankly.** Update. It got even worse. Discovered the Fed RT is an account that H&R block opened for us where IRS will send out tax return, deduct the all the fees and then send us our refund. They neglected to disclose this as well. Had they disclosed we definitely would not have done shared all our information with some 3rd party. H&R Block did offer to give us a credit for the $39.95 fee next year, which was fine except we will never go back there again!"
