Reviews of Pediatrics South
"I cannot say enough about the care Dr. Ascherman and Dr. Tyson give my children. It took me 13 years to find a female doctor I liked for my daughters and a male I liked for my sons. They both listen to my concerns, are respectful of my decisions with my kids, and are not pushy at all! I’ve been to other doctors who make me feel dumb for asking certain questions, but these two are just fantastic- they know how to answer, and educate. We’ve had some concerns with my youngest, and Ascherman is quick to follow up, making you feel cared for, and not like just another patient. The nurses and staff are wonderful as well!"
"Wish the facility was upgraded, but always receive good care for my 2 kids. They’ve always been able to accommodate us for same-day sick visits. Great doctors and convenient location."
"The past three times we have taken our children there and had appointments, the wait time to see someone was over an hour. With a 3 and 5 year old, that isn’t fair. Maybe they need to stop walk-ins or limit them. Ever since they became a UPMC medical practice, the waits have been astronomical, and the staff seems annoyed when you ask why. We love the doctors, but something has to change."
"I have a 3yr at old and have loved my experience up until a week ago. I called in because my 3yr old put a foreign object in our newborns mouth while I wasn’t looking and he said she swallowed it, when I asked him what he did. I panicked, called Pediatric South and they encouraged me to come in right away since the baby was super fussy. I’m scared the whole drive. I get there, I walk up to a window because I can’t think straight but after entering the downstairs office I went to the window on the right and not the left. And the lady started asking me questions about name of child, my name, DOB, etc, but question 4 or 5 was asking me for payment. Then I realized I went to the wrong window and just said no mam, I think there’s been a mistake, I just walked in. She proceeded to roll her neck, and raise her voice and talk slowly and tell me something with a condescending tone. I was already panicking and instead of raising my voice I calmly told her that I have been coming for three years and never had to pay walking in especially with a pre emergency room visit. So I sat down and a nurse who i talked on the phone w came to get me and rush me back. The nurse and doctors were wonderful as usual, but once they gave my baby the ok health wise I told the nurse in the back room that I’m really concerned about my daughter and did not appreciate how I was treated up front. The doctor was listened to my concerns and showed me a different egress so that I didn’t have to see the older women who was condescending in a potential medical emergency. I was thankful for that. This is a great staff but the front window hospitality can use a LOT of work. A lot of parents walk thru these doors and they never know what state of panic or fear they are in. They should show more kindness and respect, or maybe just this lady."
"Within the first week of moving to the area, both of my kids needed to be seen and we were able to get same day sick appointments. Both providers were amazing and we barely waited to get into the room either time. Very thankful for the care we received here so far."
