Reviews of Little Pearl
"Amazing food, warm and welcoming service, and intimate vibe where everything was just right. Service - everyone was warm and welcoming from the start. We came a birthday dinner, and the staff really made us feel special throughout our meal. The staff also seemed incredibly excited about the food they’re serving, which is always a good sign! Food - not a single dud in our 7-course tasting menu. The angel egg started everything right by giving us something weird and unexpected but oddly made perfect sense. The Carolina gold rice was a riff on tamago kake gohan and the caramelized onion sauce and sautéed mushrooms elevated it quite a bit. The oxtail tamale that came with the tender short rib (which was a beautiful balance of bitter, sweet, spice, and acid) was exceptional—spicy, tender, and balanced out by the crema and a sweet reduction sauce. The cheese course was so good I jokingly said that I would love another plate of it…which they surprisingly obliged! The sauternes that came with the funnel cake initially felt odd and disjointed, but ultimately came together nicely—savory, sweet, fruity, and a little herbal from a dash of basil oil. Overall a super playful take on flavors and textures that just worked. Vibe - cozy, modern, relaxed. The tables are quite close together and some diners have to sit in large communal tables with strangers, but it never felt like we were being crowded in. The volume was just right and we never felt like we had to yell across the table. Cost - tasting menu for two with wine and a cocktail came to $350. Not cheap, but definitely worth the splurge."
"Highly recommended! My friend and I had an exceptional dining experience at this restaurant. The quality of the food was outstanding, and the servers greeted us with their warm and friendly hospitality. Celebrating my birthday here made the occasion even more memorable. Will visit again in the future."
"Delicious experience — interesting and delightful flavors and textures. Tasting menu was well portioned, though another bite wouldn’t have hurt. Overall a very memorable and fun dinner. Weakest dish on my night was probably the pork neck Al pastor — came out room temperature, and the sauce a tad cloyingly sweet; also somewhat lacking in textural contrast though the silky soft pork was still nice by itself."
"Stunning meal- one of the top tasting menus I’ve ever had. No duds the entire meal, and some dishes I will remember my entire life. Really fantastic stuff. What was so interesting, some of the plates were these insane flavor and texture combinations. Like, they describe the dish and you think “how on earth is that going to work, raw fish, peaches, jalapeño ice, herbs, and tomato water?” And then you try it, and all of the flavors are there, crisp and individual, and somehow they all just work together and play off each other and rise and fade separately as it goes over your palate. Absolutely wild. 10/10"
"This was my first time at a Michelin star restaurant and I was SO pleased! Every detail was well thought out from the menu, to the decor, to the presentation of the dishes. Our waiter did a wonderful job explaining every course to us in great detail. The flavor combinations were unlike anything I’ve tried before. Every single course surprised us and was absolutely delicious. We loved our take home gift as well!"
