"I went to this school back in 1993. I had some fun times and some bad ones too. I hated that I was in special education because it made me feel like a dummy and sometimes, I could not understand the work that was given to me here and I decided to drop out of school in 1994. I was spoiled by Trenton Public Schools because I was used to getting a free lunch which VDS did not provide. I come from a low income family so I couldn't buy my food so for the most part, I went hungry. I had a class mate buy me lunch at times but the teachers there thought I was taking advantage of her. I was also used to Trenton Public Schools having band classes where they could play instruments but unfortunately, VDS didn't have that. The school was not that bad but sometimes, I couldn't understand the work and that is what made me drop out, plus, I was so done with school and school work."
"If your child has behavioral problems, (not a learning disability)find another route. There are other alternative schools with a better curriculum. Your child will not learn a thing in this school. They convinced me for years that this was the best option for my son who needed emotional support. I finally pulled him put and listened to my own intuition. He has a lot of catching up to do, but better off now that he's out of this school."
"I was told this would be a good fit for my son who has Autism. Knowing the range of his abilities and disabilities this school said they could meet his needs. After attending for 6 months of the school year, now they decide that he isn’t high enough functioning to keep him since other children are teasing him.. Some of the staff was understanding and supportive but I do not feel they communicated well with my family. They also told the school district and I that they would hold a spot for my son who was in another program away from home for when he did come home. They told the district (knowing the specific date that he would be home 4 months ahead of time) 3 days before he came home needing a school to go to, that they no longer had a spot available. If you truly need a school that will help your child, this is probably not the one."
"Fantastic camp! My daughter learned a lot from the staff! She has emotional support needs and we found that this camp helped her understand each feeling and ways to express them and not to! The staff was always available, even after hours, for questions and support of my family!!! I believe her experience helped her start her school year off in a positive light! Mr Jonathan and his staff are amazing! Thank you!!!"
"At Valley Day School, my little boy was not only being taught at his specific academic level and learning how to focus, follow directions, and be attentive, but he also was being treated almost like family. I felt like the staff actually loved him. My son LOVED Valley Day. His teachers, Ms. Paula and Ms. Nicki, are extremely patient and have hearts of gold. It's a shame I had to move to New Jersey so my son no longer attends Valley Day School. I don't understand the negative reviews here because my experience was so great. As a parent of a child diagnosed with ADHD, it was a tremendous relief to know he was in good hands at Valley Day. There, I no longer had to fight to get him the right accommodations and education because at Valley Day, the parents and teachers are on the same side. Highly recommend."
