Reviews of Children's Medical Center Inc
"Buckle up this is a long one. First off I just want to say, Dr. Pate, Dr. Small, and NP Jennifer are incredible. They've been wonderfully accommodating to my girls and their needs. More times than not, I give the healthcare providers/facility the benefit of the doubt when it comes to providing care and hope that they're receptive to feedback - but I was wrong. Very wrong. Just for context, I have been using this clinic for almost 3 years and I've not had 1 issue until yesterday. When I brought up the issue to the practice manager, my family was dismissed from their care. The best part is, I get to tell you exactly why. Here's what happened on 10/18/23. My youngest daughter turned one year old a week prior and we were in for a checkup and to get vaccines. Our oldest daughter had been dealing with a medical issue and the scheduler was able to place them both with our primary physician to get seen. (Was very thankful for this). So the exams go well with both girls. Next up, vaccines. As anyone can expect, vaccines for the little ones aren't exactly a fun process. They hurt, they aren't fun, especially when they come in multiples, and the sooner they're done, the sooner everyone can breathe a sigh of relief. And here's the problem. Needles are equipped with safety gaurds and when they aren't activated the sharps exposed is a safety concern. To the staff, to the patient, and to the family. 4 vaccines later, not 1 needle was gaurded and it felt like a whirlwind, hold your baby, wham, bam, 4 shots done. Needless to say, I'm trying to console my daughter, and my wife and I noticed the vaccine syringes on the tray, needle in the open not gaurded. We thanked the clinician and staff and left the building. At the same time we were uncomfortable with how the vaccine administration went and moreso the openess of the injections not being gaurded after the administration. We returned the following day because our young one had been experiencing some GI upset and asked the NP who saw us about the practice for the facility nursing staff. She couldn't speak to their training specifically but gave the practice manager a heads up that we wanted to talk about our visit the day prior. After speaking with their manager (Terry? Terri? not sure on spelling but whatever) about the incident and our concerns, she responded with the idea that we need to watch our children (goes without saying. We aren't/weren't mindlessly in the room during the process) and that it isn't the concern of the clinician to be mindful of sharps. So I responded with the compromise to safety of not just my children, but to her staff if needles are left in the open. As clinicians we don't recap needles (in theory) but safety devices are in place for this exact reason. Once used, flip the mechanism, problem solved. After some back and forth dialogue, clearly wasn't winning this battle, about how the staff are properly trained and that the needle gaurds were activated (which they were not) my wife bluntly told them that if that particular nurse were to see our kids, we would request someone else, and they couldn't garauntee that would be possible (understandable). So what happened? We were dismissed from the clinic because the practice manager didn't appreciate how we were talking about her staff and that's not the clinic for us. She got one thing right. It's not the clinic for us but we never bashed her staff. We simply offered feedback and the response (retaliation actually) was a dismissal. My suggestion to anyone wanting to come here: The docs are awesome. If you have a complaint: Dismiss yourself before you bring it to anyone's attention because you're going to get dismissed for it."
"Been a patient for over 6 years, called in today to have my daughter seen for a physical. STACY IS RUDE - HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS AND SEEMED TO GET PLEASURE OUT OF TELLING ME MY DAUGHTER CAN NO LONGER BE SEEN. FYI - read the fine print of all their policies. Once your child reaches a certain age, and you haven’t had a well visit every single year, they will kick you out!!! DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DOCTORS OFFICE BECAUSE OF THEIR EMPLOYEE NAMED STACY."
"This place has been nothing but Great to my family. they are very helpful every time I call and have any type of question. They are very knowledgeable with their information!! the Nursing stuff is absolutely amazing and so caring in the room. The front office staff is so welcoming when you walk into the door. There truly isn’t a better place that I would send my family and I will 100% recommend to anyone."
"Needs better staff supporting the Dr's. The Dr's have always been kind and caring. After an incident where a nurse visibly hurt my 1 year old I said stop she did not and continued to squeeze his hand and pull it from his body. I yelled stop again. She left the room with my son bleeding. They would not let me finish his appointment and threatened to call the cops if I did not leave. The front desk and nurse in charge refused to respond to any calls. Refused to let us talk to the Dr's. Refused to show us an incident report. They dismissed us as patients due to incompatibility and non-medical compliance. The same nurse who hurt my son was not allowed to see My step daughter either (wasn't aware until after) so if you like to be told your child wasn't abused or left to bleed then this is the place for you. Sad the Dr's have to stuffer due to incompetent staff. Oh and they charge you 3.50 per medical page to be printed if you want your child's files printed."
"We love Children’s medical center! All the staff is so kind and welcoming every visit we have had! Nurse Kari is one of the reasons we keep going back. She has become a family friend to us. I cannot say enough good about all the doctors and staff here! We are so happy we went with them when I first had my little dude at Atrium Hospital! There are days they are so busy when we have come in, and they still do their jobs with a smile on their face. I tend to be a little anxiety ridden whenever my little guy gets sick, and never once have a felt judged for being a walk in."
