"I've gone there since first grade and i'm a senior this year. But to be honest, almost all the good teachers have retired now. The teachers are ok and they mean well, but it doesn't always go well. I get that they want to get through the work and all, but if the whole class fails a quiz or test, I doubt the teacher(s) would reflect upon THEMSELVES and not the kids. Usually it's the way it is taught, not what is taught. I know some teachers arent certified to do what they do there. They're just doing it "for the kids" because the position needed to be filled and the work had to be done. And yes, I know a lot of people have different views on this school because there are still some teachers that actually care, but this is mine. Yes some staff there are amazing and actually help kids through life sitations, but other teachers don't get that we have a life outside of school. School should be kept at school, and outside life should be left from school to be lived by the individual, just as the principal practices. Mental health isn't taken into consideration by many either."
"Unfortunately, religion is emphasized far more than academics. I attended from grades 1-4, and there was no gifted program nor competant teachers. I doubt if any had a masters degrees, I think they were just parents. The work was so easy that I was pretty much always bored. There was a ridiculous amount of 'busy work': coloring pages, overly simple crosswords, connect the dots, all with an ultraconservative theme. Corporal punishment was frequently used. This was in the 80s but I would be surprised if anything has changed. Use those big bucks to send your children to an academic private school or hire a tutor to ensure they get a proper education. You DO want them to go to a decent college, right? I hope for their sake you do."
