Reviews of IUP Punxsutawney
"If your child is interested in hands on. This is the place to go . But it's not just a place if you want to be a cook. This is a very professional atmosphere."
"Very caring staff"
"One of the best basketball courts in town"
"Ok school"
"Another neutral review, neither good nor bad because I haven't gone to Indiana State Teachers College since 1963 but I do have personal experience with the officials at this branch. Whether the education is good or bad I have no knowledge. Personally I find it very, VERY strange that there is not a single review posted for this school which has had thousands of students therefore I feel it is important to contribute what little I do know. This appears to be a very modern campus - not unexpected since it has only been here a relatively short time. Personal Experience Over a decade ago I donated about $100k in computer software and 200 technical books related to modern technology. The librarian was overjoyed - the donation actually filled the back of a cargo van - even older software and documentation is very useful because businesses often have older programs. That was fine, I received the proper donation acknowledgement for my company. A year later I attended a Chamber of Commerce get together at this IUP location and tried to speak with the head of the school. I was trying to arrange another donation and discuss the possibility of starting a yearly cooking contest linked to the IUP culinary school in town. (I would have donated the organic beef and lamb.) Also I had more computer software and even some hardware which was surplus to our needs. I didn't know what to expect, but what happened was that she spoke not a single word to me, ignored me completely, turned her back on me to talk with someone else, and indicated in every non verbal way possible that I was something which had crawled out from under a rock and scribbled graffiti on her school. I have long hair, a beard, and haven't worn a tie in 5 decades but I am clean and presentable. At the time I was CEO of a corporation, owned an organic ranch AND was a MEMBER of the Chamber of Commerce. I'm also a Harvard Alumnus and theoretical physicist. After that experience of being completely ignored I kept all the review books which were sent to me almost weekly (I was a well-known computer journalist at the time) and tossed software in the trash when I was done with it. This is true and accurate but it may not have any relevance to whether you send a child to this school - but with no other reviews posted at least you have something to go by. Since there doesn't appear to be a single review posted by a student, staff member, faculty member, or parent, there isn't much to go on other than the fact that this is located in a relatively safe small town."
