"As a 1980 graduate of Garfield, I can only say I learned a LOT of wonderful things there. Everything was NOT perfect, and change was to be expected. An entire generation has passed. Back in those days, we settled fights out back of the building, and came away best of friends. We had a choice of "detention or cracks on the butt". I recall only ONE detention, and we as a class deserved it. Teachers were strict, and it REALLY meant something to be praised for hard work. Staff, teachers, and or dear lunch lady cared for you. Respect was earned, not granted. All of the things that I learned there have influenced my life in a positive way all the way thru college, and running a business, and to this very moment. It was, now looking back, the best of times. Then, well maybe not so much, but wow.. If I could turn back time, and go back for just ONE day.. Wow. Thank you to all of my teachers, and the staff that made sure the school was squeaky clean, warm, and a positive place to learn in. To get a "pizza burger" hot dogs with sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, and tater tots again... Haha.. Awesome! Damian"
