Reviews of Grand View Emergency Medcn
"I’ve always preferred this emergency room. They are a trauma center now so sometimes the wait is a little longer. However I was there twice this week with my 2 year old daughter and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the staff. From the receptionists that check you in, to the triage, to the nurses & the doctors. They treated my daughter wonderfully. Everyone was so caring and nice to her & me too of course. Even when we walked out everyone gave her smiles and waves! And it was nice and clean also. Thanks Grandview staff!"
"We left after waiting 7 1/2 hours without being seen. This was the second time we had such a long wait. All my experiences with GVH have been very positive except for the ER."
"I was bitten by a dog...decided to go to the ER as we've had problems with Urgent Cares in the past. We should have known it was going to be a long wait when we saw almost all of the seating surfaces were filled and a couple people were upset with not being seen. Front desk staff were pleasant. First Triage nurse was not having a good day. Registration nurse was pleasant. Patients were miserable. The ER Director came out twice, during his shift, to explain that they were out of beds in the hospital and there was no space in the ER. Thank you for communicating. I watched an older lady in a wheelchair trying to get up to go to the bathroom. Another patient went to the Front Desk to get help for her...15 minutes later, no one came. So, another patient helped her. I felt bad for her as well as being worried she was going to fall. We were there 8 hours...I just couldn't wait any longer. I left AMA without being seen. The thing was: I didn't need a bed...I just needed a table, some stitches and maybe antibiotics, but I guess they have to cover their butts. I don't know what difference reviews make in the case of ERs...you need them when you need them and they aren't big enough to handle the ailing population. All hospitals and urgent cares have the same issues: not enough space, not enough staff (with people skills), not enough beds...just got to pick the lesser of the 2 evils. Maybe someday someone will build more hospitals."
"Great ER, but avoid Nurse Michele Cole at all costs!!! My 80 year old father has cancer in his spine, severe pain, and anxiety’s And had a fall around his illness and situation. It was determined that rehab was recommended, but because it was the weekend, he had to wait until Monday to get into a rehab bed, and was forced to wait in the ER until that could be arranged. The majority of the nurses, doctors, and staff were pleasant, patient, professional, attentive, effective, and as helpful as they could be, given the circumstances…with one glaring exception. He was assigned a nurse by the name of Michele Cole on Sunday morning. She was rude, impatient, condescending, disrespectful, and a flat out liar. She left my 80year old father, who was not supposed to be out of bed unaccompanied, in the bathroom by himself and walked out because she didn’t possess the patience or compassion to DO HER JOB and assist my father in using the restroom. After 10hours of this disrespect and lies about getting a medication he desperately needed, I had had enough and requested her supervisor. Amazingly, the medication that the incompetent liar, Michele Cole, claimed she had asked the doctor for orders for multiple times over the course of 10hours (confirmed with other er staff that this was a lie) was magically simple to obtain simply by explaining the situation to the charge nurse (another pleasant, patient and understanding employee of the er) and her approaching the doctor and obtaining the necessary order. As an ER in general, Grandview was a good place to go. In terms of Ms. Michele Cole (I will not insult the excellent nurses of this hospital by addressing her with the RN title suffix she must have obtained from some subpar school), my recommendation would be that if she is assigned to you or your loved one, you skip her incompetence, disrespect, and outright disgusting behavior and simply request a supervisor and a nurse change. Michele Cole has no business around ER patients who are in the ER in crisis and needing nursing assistance. I will be filing a formal complaint with both the hospital and the state licensing board, because NO ONE deserves the mistreatment this “nurse” displays. So long as you can avoid this “person”, the Grandview ER was as new, clean, effective, and compassionate a place to seek emergency care as I can imagine."
"My November 15 visit was a very positive experience for an emergency. Every member of the team, from nursing to emergency medicine to specialty care and radiology, were professional, attentive, compassionate, and effective in their care. Thank you so much, everyone! You made a difficult experience into a positive."
