"Very rude staff at both the Greensburg and Latrobe locations. I’ve been a patient many years, Dr. Jacobson is great but, I had enough with the unprofessional staff. They need to do a complete office overhaul- replace with employees who want to be there. There is no excuse to be rude to patients, many have physical issues and they do not need to be bullied by staff as well. I’ve worked in Customer Service and at a Dr’s office myself and this is unacceptable."
"I have seen Dr. Defabo my entire life. Always loved the guy. He delivered me, when my mother gave birth. I recently gained a bit of weight after getting off medication. I didn’t see it being a big issue because I will lose it. He made the remarks to an assistant in the hallway before he came in, that “I figured she would gain weight, her mother is heavy anyway” I’ve never been so hurt in my entire life. Maybe don’t talk loud right in front of the door to your future patients."
"First of I can confirm the other reviewers thoughts of rude and inconsiderate staff at the desk in Latrobe and a few of the nurses. In addition, I just wanted to bring visablity to the unsatisfactory way I was treated by the Athena Womens Care office. I am a 39 year old recent hysterectomy patient who called my surgeon a week after seeing her in the office for my surgery follow up. I am experiencing severe and painful cystic acne and was in need of a low dose antibiotic to treat this. I've suffered with this my whole life and she has that info in my chart. Instead, I was told to scrub with an OTC ACNE Wash and wait for my next follow up. This is very upsetting and condescending. Those products cause my skin to burn and become more irritated. They way the office staff brushed me off makes me know that I'm best served taking my business elsewhere. As it is, I was able to get antibiotic oral and pads after visiting with an online physician who took the time to understand what was going on."
"My appointment/experience was awful at Athena Women’s Care. I’ve been a patient for over 30 years. There was an unhappy/mean assistant there. After I checked in, the receptionist denied my request to utilize the restroom then the assistant-healthcare professional? who called out my name to come back refused to let me use the restroom. She said, NO, GET ON THE SCALE! I stated, I have to really go. SHE STOOD THERE SO I COULDN’T GO THAT WAY. When I stepped on the scale, I knew I wasn’t going to make it in time. I stated, really? I can’t go use the restroom when I really have to go? This is awful. The healthcare professional: No response. Next, she was barking out orders on what to do for a specimen sample etc. I had an accident. I didn’t make it. I am a mess. I can’t believe this. When I cleaned myself up. There’s a mess on the floor. There are no paper towels. So I’m thinking....I’m not understanding how or why I’m getting treated this way. Should I just leave? I don’t deserve this. So, I proceeded down the hallway and let the same healthcare, professional know there’s now a mess in the restroom that needs cleaned up. She barked for me to go into a room. She shut the door abruptly behind us. I was actually fearful, she might hurt me. She barks at me some more, “NO YOU DON’T SIT ON THE TABLE, YOU SIT ON THE CHAIR! I get questions asked hurriedly. I felt awful, embarrassed etc. then she barks more orders on how to put on gown. Should she be working with patients? It was an experience that had me shaking. I wonder what my blood pressure was? Have I ever made a review like this for anyone? No, I haven’t. Driving home in urine soaked pants is unacceptable and uncalled for."
"My wife's gynecologist, Michele Jacobson, works for Athena Women's Care, which has two locations, this and a Jeanette office. She is a very patient, through, and trustworthy physician that we have had the privilege of interacting with for various reasons (including a complete hysterectomy that Mitchell performed herself). All in all she is excellent, the only complaint is that she cares absolutely zero about her patients financial well being. In the medical world, however, I trust her opinions about my wifes' well being completely."
