Reviews of Penrose Elementary School
"The violence at this school is on another level. It’s a cycle that’s getting worse every year. My cousin got transferred here just for the end of her 8th grade year. She had never been in a fight. Within months she was involved in 2 huge fights. They suspended and kids come back and couple days later and it starts all over again. It’s sad because they really have no clue. They are just numb to this."
"Do NOT send your children to this school! Its complete TRASH. The violence they allow is completely out of control & the teachers & principle could care less. I'm trying to find a way to file a complaint, my child WILL NOT be returning in September. HORRIBLE"
"penrose school is the best school there ever is. take it from me i used to go to penrose school. i loved how the teachers always helped me when i needed help, i wanna give a shout out to mr.dominic froio and to ms. jerri johnson who were the best teachers i ever had there."
"I am not happy with this school at all! We met with counselors, teachers and a dean! Papers were filled out in the beginning of the school year and we are going into March. Why are we still waiting for this change that was supposed to take place?!"
"Penrose Elementary School has issues just the same as most other schools in the district. There are problems and funding issues that come from the state and local government not doing right by our children. The school itself can be a better environment to service our children if there are more parents that are actually involved in the educational process of their children and not just dropping off their children and using Penrose as a glorified babysitter or day care program. Some of the staff their does relay care however there are those that are just there for the paycheck. There have been incidents this school year alone where there were issues with drug usage reported in the school, sexual acts being performed on school property, arrests for violence against one another (students), and most recently a kindergartner bring crack cocaine to school that reportedly (by the student), is constantly used by her mother and grandmother; these issues have not been reported to any of the parents and I only found out because I am involved and there to volunteer on a regular basis. The school needs improvements in that area as as well as EVERYONE being held accountable from the principal to the parents. We all play a major role in the process of education our children, WAKE UP PEOPLE! And yes, the after care program owner (Tanya) is very unprofessional and in it for the money. Some of her staff will tell you that and are most have left because of that reason. The after care staff is good and the director Ms. Arlene is always advocating for the parents however, the owner and the administrative staff does not listen to her or take any of her advice on how to better operate the program. Signed, Involved Parent"
