Reviews of Potomac Park Apartments
"I enjoy living in the York and have lived here since May 2023. There are no rats if you were wondering. The facilities and rooftop are nice. The heating is a little warm, but I'd rather be too warm in the winter than cold. Good housing option for GW students!"
"Solo women- DO NOT LIVE HERE! Maintenance and management are extremely creepy, and constantly came into my apartment when I wasn't there. I had a pet camera installed to prove it. When I brought it up to them, they just said it was for an "emergency" (despite never notifying me nor sending an email before nor after the many times this happened). They once had someone deliver documents to me, who insisted in getting my height and weight to "prove my identity" to management despite the fact 1. I never provided that information 2. It's none of their business. It really gave me human trafficking vibes. More than once maintenance came in without even knocking, and they even changed one of my locks WITHOUT NOTIFYING ME. I would leave 0/5 stars if I could."
"I’m a current resident at the York. generally, everything is pretty good for the location and price point, however the biggest downside is the central heating/AC. It’s often either too hot from the heater or too cold from the AC. this week for example the temperature has been in the high 70s and low 80s for multiple days but the HVACs were set to heat a couple weeks ago. The apartment is on a somewhat busy street so it’s difficult to sleep at night because if I keep my window open for some breeze, it can be loud."
"I love our stay in this apartment for more than 6months now. The management is prompt and sends out regular emails about the maintenance work or other updates about the building. Also they had fun events like free breakfast and today, was the highlight. It was free ice cream for national ice cream day. Also, when people were vacating we got a lot of free books which people left for the tenants. Overall l loved the experience of staying as a tenant in this apartment as we didn’t have much maintenance issues or water issues as compared to the rest of the buildings around. Would definitely recommend the rooftop for the inhabitants also."
"I have actually lived in Potomac Park since February of 2001! My boyfriend and I started living together two years ago, and wanted a bigger space. But I never wanted to give up the location and picture postcard view of the Capitol, Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial and Tidal Basin, including the Cherry Blossoms when in bloom! Finally a neighboring apartment--twice as big with the same view came available. In addition to it's postcard eastern-facing view, it also has a (western) sunset view from the bedroom! We are very happy in our new place! There are other tenants who have been here longer than me. We all know the secret of this location---it's super safe (lots of federal buildings with round the clock security), quiet (concrete walls) & convenient. Located in the the center of so much--walkable to Georgetown, Dupont Circle, Downtown offices, the White House, the museums, the Kennedy Center, monuments on the National Mall and more! During quarantine, we never tire of all the beautiful places nearby that we can walk to. It's also a great place for visitors from out of town! While it's an older building without the frills, maintenance always keeps it very clean and in order, and we have never, ever had roaches or rodents in 20 years I've been here--that alone is worth it, since so many city buildings have that problem. They are always on top of every maintenance request responding oftentimes within minutes. The building has also got a 24 hour CVS and liquor store next door (behind the building) as well as some eateries, Whole Foods, GWU & hospital nearby. Underground parking is also available, if needed. They have recently started allowing pets, and we are considering getting two little dogs! Something I've wanted to do for a long time. All the apartments have nice original hardwood floors and vintage b&w tile from 1949. The other plus of living here is the fantastic rooftop, where you can grill with the main view or just chill on the other, less busy, sunset side. We also have front row seats for all the Fireworks! Check it out--you might end up staying 20 years like I've done!"
