Reviews of Sonnet Apartments
"The Sonnet Apartments encompass everything we sought in a new home: modern infrastructure, in-unit laundry, a remarkable pool and grill area, a fitness center (with yoga classes!), a dog park, a package room, and a 24/7 concierge. Living here is genuinely easy and good. The team at Sonnet Apartments is very friendly and kind. A special acknowledgment goes to Curtis, who consistently goes above and beyond to support the residents."
"Don’t move here. Most of the leasing staff are rude and unprofessional. The already outrageous rent prices are continuing to rise, even though the area is getting more dangerous - 14th and V is a hotspot for shootings and you hear them constantly - I don’t feel safe here anymore. You also hear sirens and the motorcycle / dirtbike gang throughout the night while sleeping. The elevators are constantly out of service for weeks at a time. The parking garage is a nightmare - it costs $300 and most of the spaces are compact size - mini coopers / little sedans always take up the full size spots, which management won’t address because “the garage is unreserved”. There are also times where you can’t even find a spot because they are at capacity and can’t fit a tow truck in if someone without a permit gets in through a friend. The amenities are nice but the rules are getting more and more restrictive - the pool and roof hours have gotten shorter in the last year and they treat residents like students in a college dorm. Overall, this building is way too expensive for the size of the apartments, the rising crime, and horrible management. Highly recommend moving elsewhere. I will not renew my lease and will leave as soon as it is up in a few months."
"I recently concluded my stay at The Sonnet, and while there were aspects I enjoyed, a couple of issues left a lasting impression. On the positive side, the receptionist staff were consistently friendly and responsive to maintenance requests. However, there were notable challenges that affected my overall satisfaction with the living experience. One significant concern was the insulation on the second floor. Vibrations and bass sounds from the solid core below were a recurring issue, impacting the tranquility of our living space. Despite bringing this to the attention of the management, the resolution was limited to reminding solid core of quiet hours. This was a temporary fix, and the problem persisted, even worsening at times. Another disappointing experience was during the move-out walkthrough. I had inadvertently caused a mark in my bedroom closet, and the maintenance person quoted a repair cost that seemed excessive. Despite my willingness to address the issue myself, the management was inflexible, prohibiting Maintenance or my own contractor from fixing the problem. This lack of flexibility and willingness to accommodate a reasonable solution left me feeling frustrated and undervalued as a resident. While I enjoyed my time at The Sonnet, these issues significantly impacted my overall satisfaction. I hope this feedback prompts management to address insulation concerns on the second floor and reconsider their approach to resident-initiated repairs during move-out."
"Most of the positive reviews you will see here are from people who took a tour but didn’t actually live here. The leasing office does not respond to emails and is actively unhelpful. Instead of helping with issues, Jean-Paul and Tareya threatened me with a lease violation. The summer roof security team was also very hostile and racist. The elevators are constantly broken. I would never pick a Greystar managed apartment. There are many other management companies in DC that take their work seriously and provide better service."
"Have had such a nice experience moving in. Everyone has been super nice and helpful. Special thanks to Curtis who helped have all my shipped items brought upstairs to me. So grateful and appreciative for the help."
