Reviews of Center for Assistive Technology (CAT)
"Although intake is very thorough, and instills confidence, I am stunned that this organization is allowed to be the gatekeeper of wheelchairs and/ or assistive devices in our city. They do not return phone calls or emails...... Ever. My attempts to correspond with them about a manual chair (for which they made some significant bad decisions, ) were fruitless. The day we went to get the chair, (which I was brand new to needing to use one), they let me leave with a chair that was set up to lurch and buck. My insurance pays for one chair every five years. I am now stuck with the sum of miscalculation for that length of time. Because of Blackburn's, and ONLY because of them, do I have a chair that is moderately functional. The Dr.'s office requires one to use this portal to gain access to The Quickie II manual wheelchair. I say the portal is in need of repair. Why even offer clients business cards? Geez, guys. C'mon."
"If you need durable goods such as a manual wheelchair, it is much better to simply buy it off e-bay or craigslist. I have been waiting since early June for a manual chair from Blackburns. Early August is now mid September, and October will become February at this rate. I could have bought this chair for exactly what my co-pay is and had it delivered two months ago. In future, do not involve UPMC and certainly do not go with Blackburns."
"One stop shop for assistive technology. Highly recommended."
"What a great place to receive assistive technology. I have learned so much from this place. They are great to work with but very hard to get ahold of."
"They have been extremely helpful in Assistive Technology. They know what they are doing and how to get it done."
