Reviews of White Oak Gardens
"Management is terrible. Most if not all apartments are infested with roaches, mice, and/or bedbugs. Secretary is genuinely insane. I would often receive claims that I didn’t pay my rent when I had proof I had. Had the chance to sue them, should’ve taken the chance when I had it. If you care at all about where you live don’t rent here, save yourself the headache."
"This complex has been so helpful during the pandemic, helping tenants apply for assistance the workshops they held on the property for vaccination is amazing. I haven’t seen any other property be as proactive as this one during a time of hardship. Knowing how many different things are available here I’m surprised by the reviews they have free to tenants exterminators weekly. Personally we do not have a pest issue in our unit. The renovated kitchens are beautiful. The staff is friendly."
"I give this place 5 star because the owner of this place Linda she is really nice. As a single mother this is the right place, they will work with you even if you are running later on your rent. My years of living here I didn't experience bedbugs, roach etc. Keep your apartment clean."
"Filth beyond belief. They might clean up the front a little for appearances sometimes, but don't be fooled. There are mice, roaches, etc. everywhere. Halls and laundry facilities are dirty & almost never maintained/cleaned Trash everywhere. Staff not helpful or polite. Would give 0 stars if possible."
"I just moved out of White Oak Gardens about 2 months ago after being there for about 2yrs. When I first moved in there, I can honestly say that everything was decent and I was definitely one of the tenants who paid their full rent on time and everything - so they never had a problem with me. It was until some new tenants that moved beneath me is when I started really seeing the true colors of the management. This couple and a baby moved in, and periodically, the guy would come upstairs and just start complaining that I was making too much noise (even though I remember the first few times when he would complain that, I swear on my family, I was sitting down doing nothing and I heard some hammering noises from beneath me and then soon afterwards, he ran upstairs telling me to keep it down) At one point, I even told him to take his complaints to the management and even the police, but I'm not sure if he did since they never notified me. After a few months, I noticed that my apartment would heavily smell like weed - I often would see him doing/selling it from the balcony below me. I told the management about my apartment smelling like this and told them that it was the people right below me, but instead of them to address them directly, they put up signs around the complexes telling people not to smoke in the buildings. Well, of course that didn't solve that problem. After some time, I complained again and even included that the guy loves to complain about noises from above his apartment that I am not making. The management told me that they were going to tell him to stop complaining and etc; but get this, after one week, I got a letter from the property manager saying that I should try to keep the noise down since those people have a baby. I took it upon myself to go to the property manager to talk to him about the letter - he basically told me that I (a young female) should try to talk to the tenant (an older man) to try to resolve the problem amongst ourselves and then he offered me (who around this time was living there for a year and a half and like I said was faithfully paying the "full" rent...found out that they were doing Section 8 housing for some people later on) to move out to another apartment. I told him that he should offer this to the other tenant - not me - and I told him that I was looking for another place to stay regardless. Anyways, to keep a long story short, after about a few more months of hell, I had to get a restraining order on that guy because he actually took it upon himself to be waiting for me outside to start yelling and cursing me out in front of a bunch of people. He actually threatened that he was going to hurt me if I made anymore noises. I told the management about this in hopes that they would possibly take some action against this guy and his family since I was scared to come home alone since the guy was always around outside and on his balcony. They basically didn't do anything, and even up to the time that I moved out, they told me that there was nothing that they were going to do about it. All that I can say is that the management don't care about their tenants. If they did, they should have moved those people (who I later found out were one of their section 8 residents). I complained so much about that guy to the point that I had to get a restraining order. It was such a messy situation that got scary and out-of-hand because I felt like the management didn't want to step in to try to help one of their tenants. I even told the management that I was scared b/c I knew that this guy was violent and had no respect for women since I would occasionally hear him beating his wife. It was such a crazy experience, so I advice you not to move into those apartments. You will have problems and no help from the management. Also, even after moving out, it took me over 2 months to even reach someone besides the receptionist about getting my security deposit back. You've been warned!"
