"They have mice really bad! Everyday I saw mouse poop in my kitchen on the counters and stove, in my closets and behind my dressers. Or I would see mice running across my kitchen counters or in and out of closets and into various holes. They claim to exterminate but it didn’t help. I left bread on the counter overnight and mice ate it! It’s absolutely disgusting. The walls are also extremely thin. You can hear literally everything. I was on the top floor and it still felt like someone was above me or actually in my apartment. The pictures and the model apartment make it look so nice and bright but really it’s very dark and doesn’t get much natural light. It served its purpose but I would look for something better if I were you!"
"Lived here for almost two years now. Mostly no issues that weren’t fixed quickly. Shoutout to my boy Osacar in maintenance is the best. Every issue he fixes stays fixed. My guy is the GOAT."
"I have been a resident for over a year and the maintenance man and his wife that live on the property in the building next to me do nothing but bully and threaten my kids when they are playing outside. My kids come crying every time they play due to grown adults bullying them and telling them where they aren’t allowed to walk. It has been multiple times my kids have came crying to me due to the couple and tonight was the last straw. I recommend living here unless you have to be stuck living by or in my building near the maintenance man and his wife. I’ve also been recently given a letter of lies saying I have damaged my apartment when I have picture of everything for this reason. So they will try to come back and say you made false damages. The bathroom door had been stripped and needed new nails I submit tickets for nothing to be fixed. They did my inspection before I left and said everything was fine but now they want money.. you are a joke no one should ever live here with how they do to people. Kenya gives no answers and is rude when you want response to anything. They steal from you. And will be served by my lawyer for making false claims and taking my money."
"I have been renting from southgate for 3 years now . Not everything is great but for most part it’s nice place to life. The maintenance crew makes it well worth it. Rapheal is one of the maintenance crew and he is fantastic. Always happy and making sure we are good. He walks around d cleaning up the grounds all the time when he he isant busy doing other things. Anytime I have out in a ticket and he comes out , he does his best to make certain we are happy when he leaves . They are all great but we specially love him and all his hard work . Never see him just doing nothing. He is always working hard . I hope everyone else notices this as well"
"Our move in process was good with Melvenia and Kathie (who orchestrated our corporate lease/furniture and housewares rental). It took a few weeks and some extra calls/emails to get the complete package of our houseware rentals, but overall the move in was smooth. We moved in and the apartment looked like (fresh paint and new carpet) however things started to slowly fall apart. Paint chipping on the walls and on the bottom of the bathtub, we had the A/C leak and break twice which, the second time, took them two days and multiple phone calls to finally come fix it as promised. Our kitchen sink sprung a leak, maintenance said they'd arrive in 20 minutes and we ended up calling them back 45 minutes later when they didn't show. The maintenance man asked me to leave the top part of door unlocked and they would could fix it after we left for work. Really anytime we call maintenance or have a scheduled visit they never show when they say. Lots of miscommunication/lack thereof. It's an older apartment complex, and things seem to just have patch-up work done and are not truly being fixed. The vinyl kitchen floor ripped just under the refrigerator and we were able to fix it (as we have since noticed other portions of the vinyl in kitchen and main entryway were fixed the same way) but Kenya (property manager) demanded it would still cost us $300 to have it fixed or she wouldn't process our transfer/move-out request. As far as the complex it is kept fairly nice landscape-wise. However, within our first month here we've had two confirmed delivered packages disappear from our doorstep (no cameras in the main staircase areas and the main doors into the buildings are kept unlocked). At least the complex took action to prevent further stolen packages by offering them to be delivered to the main club house but still is frustrating to have them been stolen at all. Also it's inconvenient there are not laundry room facilities in every building as we were originally told. No dishwashers in unit either (as stated on website) Day before move-out we come home after dinner to notice parts of the ceiling above our deck/patio door have literally fallen off, crumbled into pieces on the carpet. My husband and I chose this complex because of price and convenience/location to work. However we are moving out after 3 months even though we're in the area for work until mid-October. We do not recommend moving to this complex."
