"I absolutely hate it here! And that’s not a word I would use to describe anything. I’ve avoided this rating just out of respect but this is the worse apartment complex I’ve ever lived in… and I move a lot due to the military. Residents shouldn’t have to worry about the safety of their vehicles at home and I understand it may just be a product of the environment but to add to that there’s the concern of your vehicle still being in place when you come out for it. I even understand that there are people that play the system that make it bad for others but there should be some benefit of the doubt… some measure of common sense! My car has been towed 4 times since I moved here… 4 TIMES! I’ve never been towed before. This is outrageous. Why would I have a temporary parking tag hanging and park in front of the building??? This is just a hustle to take people money and the crazy part is we pay to live here. Unlike some I have other options I just chose to stay so I wouldn’t have to move my kids during school but there is no real concern for the residents here. My car is safer in the street. I took the necessary measures to make sure I was doing the right thing and this is what happens. I may as well be some unruly resident and just do whatever with no concern for this property or the management. That’s just my frustration today! I hope and pray that when the karma comes back on this company as well as Fastlane Towing that you are overwhelmed with the thoughts of the residents you wronged!"
"I'm truly disappointed by our recent (9/18/2023) experience at The Village at Montpelier Apartment Homes. My wife, daughter, and I left for my daughter's doctor's appointment and returned after just over an hour, around 10:27 a.m., only to find the rear windshield of my wife's car shattered. Naturally, we immediately went to the leasing office to report the incident, hoping for some assistance or at least an investigation. Regrettably, their response left much to be desired. They suggested we call 911, which was not the solution we hoped for, given the presence of security cameras throughout the complex. We pointed out the security cameras near where our car was parked, assuming they might have captured the incident. To our surprise and disappointment, the leasing office staff informed us that none of those cameras were functional except those at the leasing office and the gym. This revelation was disheartening because we believed that The Village at Montpelier Apartment Homes had a comprehensive security system in place, providing its residents safety and peace of mind. Unfortunately, these cameras seemed merely for decorative purposes rather than actual security. I've attached some photos to this review to highlight the cameras we believed were actively monitoring the premises, unaware they were there solely for aesthetic reasons. This experience has left us feeling quite vulnerable and questioning the level of security the complex provides. We sincerely hope that The Village at Montpelier Apartment Homes takes this matter seriously and considers enhancing its security measures to ensure the safety and well-being of its residents. Old review... The Village at Montpelier Apartment Homes is generally a pleasant neighborhood; however, there are a couple of issues that need addressing: Persistent Cigarette Smoke: One significant concern in my experience in this community is the constant smell of cigarette smoke that permeates my apartment daily. It's worth noting that no one in my family smokes, yet we involuntarily inhale smoke due to individuals smoking in the staircases regularly. I've reported this issue several times, but unfortunately, no action has been taken to resolve it. While I understand this problem may not affect all the buildings, it's particularly problematic in Building 698. Additionally, the staircases are often dirty and malodorous. Suggesting that I call the police when I witness someone smoking overlooks the fact that the smoker is rarely present when the police arrive. Lack of Notification Regarding Entry: Another concern during my time here is the practice of sending handpersons into my apartment without any prior notification. This issue first came to my attention three years ago, prompting me to install cameras in my apartment. While I acknowledge that the apartment is not technically mine, common courtesy would dictate that I should be informed before anyone is sent into my living space, considering that I am a paying tenant. Many other apartments would email or leave a note on the door to inform residents that someone has entered their premises in their absence. Unfortunately, such a courtesy is often overlooked here. This situation is exacerbated because these individuals frequently do not clean up after themselves. For anyone who values cleanliness, it is highly frustrating to return home and find your space in disarray after you have left it in a pristine condition. Addressing these concerns would greatly improve the overall living experience in The Village at Montpelier Apartment Homes and contribute to a more pleasant and respectful community environment."
"This place is terrible! My family applied here because it’s in laurel and had met my family’s need to be put on the ground level due to disability accommodations , this process took a month because the leasing staff can’t read paystubs or refused to believe their income. They credit and income qualified, They denied based on the fact they think their paystubs were false ! Which is absolutely ridiculous, they work for the government and can definitely prove them! They canceled their application without letting them know. We were so frustrated. We contacted the regional GOT NO REPLY FROM THEM! They said they can reopen the application and asked for so many documents, which didn’t even help. They were going to deny the whole time but was trying to make it seem like they were being fair. They did not want them to move there. I will be contacting the fair housing department ASAP! They had no reason to deny them but for their own personal reasons. We didn’t even get an adverse letter saying they were denied and why!!!!!!!!!!!! Letter to cooperate coming soon.. This is the most unprofessional place ever! They were also very rude when we were just trying make the whole process go through! I guess they didn’t believe with their income why they wanted to move there…This needs to be investigated by the corporate office! I’m glad they denied them.. i see they have a roach and mouse issue. I work in this field.. and this is not how you do it…"
"Do not move here! Let me count the reasons! 1. The maintenance team is TRASH besides Carlos and another man who actually seems to care if the things he fixes or not is actually fixed. There's a gentleman who's been on the property for decades... If HE comes, your ish will NOT be fixed. He will say it's fixed, but out of everyone he is THEE laziest. He jiggled my door today and said it was fixed. No tools, nothin. The head of maintenance is ugly and rude! He's come into my apartment with the manager before and was completely disrespectful. He got kicked out and it's no longer invited here. He lies. All of them lie. They clear all the tickets, but that doesn't mean they did a THING. 2. I've had a door issue for a year and a half. Sometimes I'm locked in, sometimes I can't lock the door from the outside, sometimes can't lock it from the inside. A year and a half. I had to report them to the PG Code Enforcement. It's a clear fire hazard, as well. 3. The manager is a liar. Promises to fix stuff and then takes it back lol. I had to just finally report the issue to PG Code Enforcement and her regional boss. Maybe corporate won't do anything, but Code Enforcement will, less they be fined. I pray they get hit with a BIG FINE. She is also avoidant. She decided she doesn't want to be held accountable like 6 months ago and she's avoided me ever since. In the past, I've had to call the health department about MOLD. They're just terrible and cheap and like to put bandaids on everything. 4. They have rats. 5. They have roaches, of course. 6. They have made me miss work 4 times over the door issue. 7. I wish the door was the only issue, but most things have to be touched twice or more to be truly fixed. Terrible. 8. They don't apologize when they're wrong. In fact, they really don't react at all to you being displeased. They just want their rent like I can't put it in an escrow account until they fix it. That's the next step. 9. It's overpriced to live here. You would think if you're paying 2300, they could fix a door correctly in a 1.5 year time span. It's clear that don't gaf! 10. Trash customer service. Overall. Would ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMEND!"
"I received an email on 4/3 that the repair was completed for an order that I put in last week when in fact no one came out to even look at the issue. My dishwasher still has nasty standing water."
