Reviews of The Vale
"Been at The Vale for over a year and I haven’t had any major issues! Love that they are developing the area nearby and it’s fairly accessible with the bus routes right outside of the apartment and the metro about a 10-15 min walk away. I also enjoy taking advantage of amenities such as the gym and the co-working area:)"
"The Vale is a pretty good place to live. The building is maintained a little better with the new property management company but the package room is still in need of logistical improvements. It’s a pretty decent community and the common space is good for remote work or having guests over. My unit is great. No real complaints."
"LOUD BUILDING!!! Avoid if you value your sanity. It pains me to have to write this review, because The Vale is phenomenal in many respects, but my time living here has been a living hell. As I am writing this review, I am sitting in the lobby of the building having been forced from my apartment for the third night this week by loud music coming from down the hallway and through the walls. And when I say loud, I mean LOUD. The music starts off quietly, but continues for hours and progressively gets so loud it can be heard on the floors both above and below us. You can view the video recording I uploaded for a taste of what it is like living here. The day I recorded that video was a Friday (I was at home because I am a student), and the music continued at this volume for over twelve hours—from roughly 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Please try to take a moment to imagine what that was like for me. Please also take a moment to imagine what my life is like without late nights, weekends, or early mornings. At those times, my apartment is basically unlivable. When this person plays her music, no sounds really make it through the walls except for the din of the bass. It is a high-volume thrumming sound that echoes throughout my entire apartment, shaking and rattling the furniture, including the chairs, sofa, and bed. The vibrations also travel through the floor and through my entire body, causing my heart to race and making me deeply uncomfortable. It is impossible to sleep while the music is going because my bed is swaying back and forth as if there is airplane turbulence. Last night, I lost several hours of sleep because the music was playing past midnight, and this morning it started right up again as I was eating my breakfast at 8:00 AM. This was not unusual. In fact, these days, it seems more normal than not for me to lose sleep or be forced to vacate my apartment, surrendering my time to a person with seemingly no respect for others, and who told us that if we didn’t like her music, we should “Go buy a house.” This is who you will be neighbors with if you move here. Because I live at The Vale, I am forced to live a miserable, unhealthy, and sleep-deprived existence, completely at the mercy of this woman down the hall. I have complained to the front desk numerous times about this person, and each time they have said they will speak with her but I have never seen them follow through. If the management wants to continue attracting tenants, they should prioritize enforcing community norms, or else what was once a nice building will continue to deteriorate."
"I moved here July 1st. It’s been a great place so far! Maintenance was quick to respond in the first few days. Concierge is really helpful and friendly. My dog loves getting treats from the front desk. We have great amenities that I’ve not fully tapped into yet. We’re on the former and historic property of Walter Reed Hospital with security patrolling the area and locking playgrounds and the dog park at night. They upkeep of the apartments/property and landscaping shows they really care. I find it mostly quiet. I don’t hear a lot of noise within the apartments, but facing the courtyard and pool, there’s a a bit of rowdiness and noise on weekends. But this is midday summertime pool fun. The overall area feels safe, with Walter Reed security officers patrolling the area, locking playgrounds and dog park at night."
