"I do like the young lady showing me some apartments. Her personality was comfortable to have conversations with."
"Overall was fine while living there for 2 years. Staff was extremely helpful and courteous which was the biggest plus since this is a very typical apartment building for the area. Biggest issue during residence was the noise from all the construction, likely still going since the repairs would take longer than anticipated, and of course the nauseating smell in my apartment when other units were being fixed for new tenants. There is also the unsightly carpet and the extreme temperatures (80º for at least a 2-4 weeks each April and May) you deal with before they turn the AC on. Can't use a window unit because it breaks your lease, and the windows are not suited for it. Although we should ask ourselves if one should have to also pay more for AC when you're already paying for it. Also the elevators always being out. My real issue was upon moving out. After living there for so long I was hit with unexpected charges I was told would not be included. I did leave the inside of my oven needing some attention with stuck on grease (normal wear/use) for which I was promptly charged the cost of a full apartment clean. The company specifically told me this is why I was charged the full cleaning service fee, no other reason. I worked hard to clean everything as much as I could, even the fridge and ceiling got a nice clean. I lived there two years and a wall began to develop a crack. Likely this was structural from stress as the crack protrudes out from the wall. I was told I would not be charged during my initial walk through, yet I was hit with fees to fully cover the repair. On the last ticket of items was the bathtub which had one tile (yes one literal tile) which experienced the loss of some paint. The tile wasn't even cracked. I was charged for a full reglazing of the entire tub. I'm not sure who was responsible. I called multiple times and attempted to dispute the charges. No one ever called me back, and they left this pending UNTIL long enough had passed that they could send me to collections. Yes, after all my rent and paying on time, and being a quiet tenant who never created an issues, and having staff and other residents who liked me, I (a now 25yo medical student-literally the quietest person) was threatened with retaliation of my credit score. I'm still in the process of dealing with them through BBB, but they refuse to acknowledge any of my very valid concerns like: the amount you posted isn't even the same as what your employees quoted "if" I was charged. It's honestly a disgrace and I would caution anyone from renting here. Unfortunately I know at the time they offered a really good deal for the area, but know this will come with costs later down the road."
"Note: Review subject to change. I toured here a year and a half ago and thought this building had fantastic sized units, (appeared to be) very well cleaned, and just had overall good value for the price. As my lease is up and I consider new apartments in the coming months, this one is definitely on my list as it was 1.5 years ago. But the new reviews regarding AC issues and bugs are distressing and a major turn off. Can someone from management/maintenance please provide a realistic view of these issues and what measures are being taken to combat them? These did not seem to be issues when I first toured… All the best!"
"Not good to live in. AC is broken and apartment close to 80 degrees. There are periodically bugs here that we’ve had extreme difficulties in getting remedied by the apartment. Multiple times the washing machines have been broken causing a lot of difficulty in doing laundry. One time maitenance came to fix something in my apartment and left my door open while I was at work for 6 hours and my cat was here and luckily did not escape. There have been problems with the garage door for the parking lot not opening in the past. When we moved in both our bathroom tub and kitchen sink were clogged. I’ve outlined all these issues much more extensively on yelp if you want to read further. Do not consider moving here or you will regret it."
"We have been living in the Avalon for two years and have been enjoying every moment of it. Apartments are extra spacious. The maintenance team is super fast and efficient, and ready to come immediately at any time for emergency. Everything is fixed within 24 hours of request submission. Front desk stuff is super kind, welcoming and ready to help. Manager Miriam Mbugua manages the building efficiently and goes beyond and above to make everyone feel at home and to resolve any issues in the best manner. Highly recommend living in this building"
