Reviews of The Apartments at Metro Centre
"Immediate area is unsafe, expect to be verbally harassed and followed within 5 minutes walking outside the building if you are a woman. Witnessed a car being stolen in the garage connected to the building. Police are here often since there are a lot of drunks and addicts at the doorstep of this building. The apartments themselves are nothing to write home about. Predatory business practices in the management company. Tried to get out of lease with 3 months notice because of the lack of safety, but they want 2 months rent AFTER that as a penalty. They said that’s not enough time to find a new tenant. 3 months? Ridiculous. Would not recommend, many cheaper and safer apartments in Owings Mills!"
"The initial tour was great, but the paperwork was tedious and never ending. Several times, we were told it was done, then they’d send another random form. We were clear that our adult son would be living with us, but then they wouldn’t give him a key fob because they needed to run a background check on him. They made us provide a temperament form for our cat, but they never told us about it before we signed the lease. This meant we had to make a last-minute vet appointment before a major holiday, on top of selling a home and moving! In 8-mo, we had no issues with bugs or mice. Maintenance tickets were responded to quickly. The fire alarms sounded frequently. The roof top is nice, but teenagers do smoke marijuana there after school. The clubhouse is a nice resource, but the worn-out pool sticks could use replacement. The gym is better than what most apartment complexes offer, but the chest press machine is uneven and will cause an injury. They are proud to advertise that they have 2 Pelotons in the gym. One was broken the entire time we lived there and the other one is “Frankenstein-ed” together and only worked occasionally. Despite our (and other’s) repeated complaints, they never fixed them and blamed Peloton for their lack of customer service. They also advertise communal carts, but residents never return them, and they are usually missing. The day before we moved out, we went to both wings of the building and checked every floor to find a cart for our move. If someone is late on their rent, they hang signs on their entrance doors that include resident’s names, apartment number, and why they need to talk to them. It’s a wild goose chase trying to find packages! Delivery drivers throw packages on the shelf in the lobby mail area, despite signs telling them to leave packages in the basement lockers. The basement lockers are overflowing with packages, multiple resident’s packages are thrown in one large locker together, there are carts full and stacks of packages on the floor out in the open. Once a driver threw our package outside on the sidewalk, a neighbor found it as patrons were walking over it and brought it to us. We didn’t sleep for 8-mo! Our apartment was above the dumpsters in the back alley, the trash trucks come twice a week between 3-4am, banging dumpsters multiple times on the ground, and the compactors run at all hours of the night. Speaking of trash, many residents throw their garbage in a pile on the floor of the trash room, instead of putting it in the chute. Loud trucks deliver between 5-6am to the restaurants below. People leave the restaurants late at night drunk, they yell/fight, ice skate across the parking lot, and drag race in the alley at 2am. The Marriott draws events, once there was a wedding party that was dancing, playing drums and yelling so loudly outside that colleagues could hear it during a work call. TAKE PICTURES WHEN YOU MOVE IN/MOVE OUT!!! They withheld our deposit to cover their cost of general maintenance/replacing carpet. They could not justify the damage they claimed we did, so we provided pictures of the frayed carpet and spots we found on move in day and fought with them for weeks until they finally reimbursed our deposit."
"So where do I start? I have a stable job and I am not a bum. I paid my rent and it didnt go through the system. I was then charged a $100 late fee and was banned from paying online as this is the second time the “rent didnt go through.” Their automatic payment system has a $50 fee to use it, so it forces you to do it manually every month and HOPE that it goes through. Now, I am required to go to my bank every month to pay for a cashiers check in which they dont get taxed on as its cash! David S brown is extremely predatory! Rent here with caution they will try to screw you any way they can!"
"Absolutely loved having Jeff as our tour guide! Very knowledgeable about all three locations (from the amenities to the pricing). He asked questions to gage our interests to ensure we were getting the apartment we truly wanted. Also, very attentive and welcoming. He responds and was sure to get back to us to relay new information & answer questions we had. We can tell he cares about his prospects. Gave us a sense of how management is at these three locations. Thank you Jeff!"
"Update: I've lived here for almost a year and it's great. Having the restaurants below is very convenient and they all are delicious. When anyone comes to visit there's a new Marriott within feet of my building. I also use the salon across the street, which is very convenient. The leasing office agents are really nice and my dog loves playing with our neighbors dogs in the dog park in the back. One of the best self guided tours I have ever taken. All questions were answered with no hesitation, the leasing agent was so sweet and made sure our map was correct and detailed so we did not get lost, made sure to mark all amenities so we could see them and worked with us to figure out our perfect layout within our budget. No judgment for any questions asked and everything was BEAUTIFUL in both buildings. So much so that it was the hardest decision to decide which building to apply for. So many shops and restaurants near. HIGHLY recommend."
