Reviews of Keswick Cycle University City
"I had an awesome experience here. Graham helped me bring my 90s bike back to life. I was overwhelmed by whether to ditch the bike altogether as most would probably say I should , but the bike has sentimental value and I really wanted to see the restoration through after replacing the crank arm and investing money, time etc. I had limited funds so they took the time to help me decide what was absolutely needed to get it up and running. Very grateful to have honest, good mechanics nearby that are willing to explain and give options. They knew exactly what kind of bike and the specifics they were looking at immediately despite the specifics being kind of a strange hybrid of the times they were built, impressive. All to say I did tons of research on this bike but do not have hands on experience and was very happy to find someone that did."
"As a major shop in this area, any avid rider will quickly become familiar with Keswick. They've assisted with many repairs. And I appreciate that! To be better however, I'd like to see lower priced bikes, lower cost accessories and a diversified staff."
"Unfriendly, unhelpful. Called ahead, was told they had the parts I needed and would be happy to assist. When I arrived, they appeared irritated to offer any assistance and said they don’t have to tools to work on my tire. There are plenty of good bike stores around, would not offer my business to this one. Employees doing repairs seemed completely inept to handle a simple tubeless tire repair."
"Unfortunately I got a flat tire after lunch in U City. Fortunately when I googled “bike shop near me” it brought me to Keswick Cycle! Graham was able to change out both tires (they were from the 90s) in a timely manner and Tyler helped me pick out a beautiful pink helmet. All within 15-20 minutes! The employees were awesome and the bike shop was super clean and had a great selection of bikes and accessories. My only complaint is that I wish it was closer to where I live in Grad Hospital. Although I’ll probably bike up there for any bike needs going forward. 12/10 for all around experience!"
"Shops like Keswick are increasingly rare, not just because they’re independent but because they hire good people and create lasting relationships with their customers. I walked in off the street holding a random frame and fork in 2016 and the folks at Keswick spent over an hour helping me spec out a full build for a new bike. They’ve stood behind their work for 5 years now, and been my go-to for parts and services ever since. Most recently, I purchased a new hardtail MTB from them. When I first reached out about a new bike, Brian put me in touch with Hoover at the West Philly shop. I’ve exclusively ridden steel road frames for almost two decades so this is a big switch for me, and not once did I feel stupid asking questions (which can be a huge problem in bike shops when you’re not a dude). Hoover listened when I told him what I was looking for and what I wanted to ride. Importantly, he offered suggestions but never pressured me. In doing so, he helped me narrow down my options and understand the pros and cons of each one. Hoover answered all my questions, and then answered ones I didn’t know I had. He also went out of his way get different bikes in different sizes brought to the shop for test rides. Finally, after helping me find the right bike in the right size, Hoover set me up with what I’ll need to get the most out of this ride. Basically it was everything buying a new bike should be. Thanks for another great new bike day, y’all ❤️"
