"I started my jiu jitsu journey back in August of 2023. I was looking for places that I could learn BJJ because I had no prior experience or knowledge, and CTA was/is extremely welcoming to me and was a kid friendly environment which is important because sometimes after work I must bring my kids with me. The staff of CTA are the epitome of professionalism, very welcoming and knowledgeable. The culture that they have built is where everyone pushes each other to get better so no one is afraid to ask for help and everyone is willing to help where and when they can. Professor Vu himself is a great teacher. The way he methodically breaks everything down is great, and if he sees that you need additional help, he will break it down even further to a level for you to understand. Every time he speaks to the class, he keeps it 100% real and tells you what you need to hear, not what you think you want to hear. He is transparent, sets real expectations and is firm, but fair to everyone. I appreciate that to the point where I’ve signed both of my kids up to participate in classes so we can share in this experience together. If anyone were to ask me about starting BJJ, the first place I would recommend is CTA. The environment is always great, you will always get a good workout in a sport that you can use to avoid potentially dangerous situations and I truly believe everyone is invested in everyone becoming better. I am extremely thankful that I found CTA Alexandria BJJ."

"I have been attending CTA for a little over a year and a half, and it has been life-changing for me. After the pandemic, I had gained close to 50 pounds of unhealthy weight, and BJJ is one of the main reasons I was able to lose 30 pounds and recover my confidence. But beyond the sheer numbers, I am truly happy that I found a sport that I enjoy going to instead of having to go to the gym as an obligation. The staff at CTA is very welcoming, and there are numerous class time options to accommodate your work schedule. Professor Vu is a great teacher, and the more I practice BJJ, the more I notice how exceptional his technique is. "If I could give this gym 10 stars, I would! This is a family establishment, run by the most loving, dedicated family. It makes people of all ages, genders, and races feel welcomed. I am brand new to BJJ and every single person I have met on this mat is eager and willing to take time out of their training to advise, teach, and share their passion of the art with me. It is a cooperative and safe environment, making an individual activity really feel like a team. I tried two other gyms in the area prior to picking this one and it's the best decision I've made all year."

"Caio Terra Academy-Alexandria Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has been an incredible experience for our son's Mitchell (10yrs old) and Noah (6yrs old) thus far! Coach Vu Tran and his staff have a wealth of experience and create an environment where learning is BJJ fun! Coach Vu and his staff emphasize discipline, technique, safety, and the importance of establishing a genuine love for BJJ. Though the classes are large at times, the coaches are evaluating each child very closely, which was important to us. Soon after Mitchell and Noah began attending regularly, you quickly notice that it is a family environment, where the instructors, kids participating and the parents are extremely encouraging. Mitchell and Noah were initially very nervous about participating in BJJ but their confidence has grown tremendously as their skills improve. As a result of Noah's performance to date, last week he received his first stripe on his belt from Coach Vu, which he is very proud of! Witnessing Noah receive his first strip motivated Mitchell more but I have already seen his BJJ skills improve as well as his mental toughness and discipline playing other sports.
