"First time experience with this ER today. Unfortunately I showed up twice in 24hrs due to flu and breathing issues. They are not to blame at all for that, and it gives me a clearer picture of how things work here... very timely, immediately acknowledge upon entering which is huge by its self. I can't say enough good about the staff. From my registration to nurses, doctor, respiratory professional, they were all so nice and helpful and understanding. It was easy to get my concerns across and feel understood and heard. Love WVU med"

"This place is an absolute joke, waited in the ER for 3 hours only to be told I had an inflamed colon and was tired even though I was vomiting fecal matter and had excruciating stomach pain, but then I went to UHC they actually helped me but it wasn’t a lot of help, finally went to Ruby, turns out I had a bowel obstruction, which can be fatal, if you are dying, I would take the risk of driving to UHC or one of the hospitals in Morgantown, because this place is an absolute joke, the overnight nurses at Fairmont were nice but that’s the only good thing I can say about this place, but if you are dying, risk the drive to UHC or the hospital in Morgantown, DO NOT COME HERE !"

"**update!!! Worse then EVER. MY SON WAS VERY ILL. His fiance brought him here as it was closer then Ruby. They (Nurse Misty) is so unpleasant and unprofessional. She removed the index finger top of both gloves while starting a IV. My son told her that's not acceptable and to reglove. She said she sanitized her hand and it was acceptable then shoved the needle in, my son gushed blood and it went on her bare skin. This is UNACCEPTABLE! They did not even treat his reason for coming in. They never told him he had a fever nor gave fever reducer. They were so hung up on a Urinalysis. They kept asking and said they'd get it one way or another even if they have to use a cath. He came in dehydrated as he extremely sick out of both ends. He had 1/2 bag of fluid and they exspected that urine sample. They treated him as if he was a druggie. We heard them talking at the nurses station about a drug test saying that's why he wouldn't pee and they'd get one way or another even if they had to cath him. They then says he might have food poisoning and sent him home. They were only worried about this Urinalysis, which is CLEAN.... STAY AWAY, GO TO RUBY! My MIL had a procedure done here. She had to arrive before normal hours, go through ER then several other locations in the hospital prior to procedure. We were kindly escorted. Everyone along her jurney was wonderful! My only complaint is the lab techs and nurses who've become comfortable and a bit LAZY with proper technique! You never know if your patient is a Doctor or Nurse and it truly shouldn't matter. Every life is a Valuable life, Any risk is a Bad risk! When you're a Heart PT you're more susceptible to Endocarditis. Proper technique is especially important when drawing blood or inserting a IV. This is serious! Wash your hands, change your gloves after touching ANYTHING and stop ripping the finger tip (index) off the glove & useing your bare finger to relocate the vessel once it's been cleaned. Other than this, it was a pleasant experience considering the procedure. STAY AWAY!"

"Was there to see my doctor. Was a very pleasant experience. Everyone was so nice and helpful. Had a very special encounter with a security guard. As I was leaving my shoe had come untied. I am not able to bend over to tie it. The security guard noticed it and bent down and tied it. I was so grateful. He went above and beyond his job. This hospital and staff are the best. ."

"Well we've been here for 5 and a half hours. Been waiting for an ambulance for 2 hours to take my wife to Ruby. Not sure what this place is here for. Because all i have seen so far is its a pit stop to Ruby. I just asked if I could take my wife to Ruby myself and the ER nurse was rude and asked if I wanted to step out of the room. Not sure what she meant by that. But anyways this place is a joke just go to Ruby and skip this pathetic excuse for a hospital. ****Update**** The doctor and nurses told me at midnight that the ambulance would be there shortly. That would've been 7 hrs. I went home to our kids thinking she would be leaving shortly. I woke up and checked, it didn't get there until 3:15. That would've been 3 hours later which would've made 10 hours that she was there. Like I said pathetic!"
