Crowne Plaza Crystal City-Washington, D.C., an IHG Hotel

"I booked a suite for a weekend stay and was downgraded to a standard room when I arrived. I am an IHG member and booked directly through the hotel website. Despite this I was not refunded the price difference. The rooms are dated and mine in particular had bubbling wallpaper and cracks in the wall in the shower. Other reviews mention the hard mattresses and they are accurate. Location is good being right by the metro and airport but there are plenty of other hotels in the area."

"My family and I booked 2 separate rooms for our stay from December 22 till the 27th. When we checked in we were told the restaurant for breakfast was closed for our entire stay. They gave us vouchers for Starbucks instead. We get to our rooms and one room was decently cleaned. The other had hair in one of the drawers and hair in the bathroom floor. The people at the front desk do not tell that you have to use your room key to access the elevator, so gave that handy. Twice during our stay the room service walked in without knocking while we were still in bed. Then another time I told them we didn't need our room serviced that day and had the do not service thing hanging on the door and they serviced the room when we left anyways. They moved our belongings around including my credit card and my son's phone in order to make up one of the beds."

"WARNING - THIS PLACE SCAMS YOU. As a Government employee, I stayed here for a Government conference. I was told at check-in that the breakfast buffet is included. The next day I proceeded to get breakfast, when the lady asked me for my room number; she comes back later to inform me that breakfast is not included. I assure her that the front desk informed me otherwise; she insisted. So I went back downstairs to the front desk, and they were very apologetic and gave me a voucher, which appeased the woman working in the restaurant. Didn't think anything of it, got my bill at checkout (which I need for government voucher purposes of course), and everything looked good - all the normal room and tax charges I expected. FAST FORWARD to today, I get my government travel card bill and see a $12.10 charge FOR BREAKFAST! I immediately call the hotel and guess what - they give me the run around saying they are separate from the restaurant and can't help me dispute the charge, I have to call back tomorrow to speak to a restaurant manager who may or may not be working tomorrow. ARE YOU KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW? THIS PLACE IS A JOKE! TRAVELERS BEWARE OF THIS DISHONEST BUSINESS!!!"

"Room was clean and adequate. Wish there were more places to hang clothes or towels. There was no fridge or microwave in the room. I wasn’t expecting them but just be aware. There are several food options available in the hotel. We ate breakfast and dinner there the food was good but not worth the cost but it was worth it for convenience. We came for the Marine Corps Marathon and this hotel was a perfect location for all things race related. It’s two blocks to a metro station making getting around quick and convenient. Parking is available in the hotel parking garage another expensive convenience. There are several restaurants and lots of shopping with in walking distance."
