Reviews of Peking Pavilion
"My family bought the steamed dumplings, four spring rolls, general tso's, and peking fried rice. Surprisingly, none of the items had any flavor. The spring rolls were mushy, and the general tso's was stringy and tough; also flavorless. The fried rice had the same issue... absolutely no flavor. Pretty disappointing for a $50+ meal. This was my first time patronizing peking pavilion. We went be going back. I'm hoping this was just an off night for them, and not the standard."
"My family and I were heading west from DC after a long day of sight seeing. We were on the hunt for Chinese food similar to what we had in TX. After looking at reviews for Peking Pavilion, we opted to try this place out. When we walked in, we were greeted with friendly faces. They sat us within 5 minutes of arriving. When we ordered, our food was hot and delicious. It reminded us of home. It has been a difficult journey in finding an egg drop soup that really gave you a flavor punch. But this soup did just that. It had the right amount of thick consistency you would expect from the soup. The dishes were flavorful and contained the right amount of spice. We ordered vegetarian dumplings, which I highly recommend!"
"Support family-owned businesses… this is as Mom & Pop as it gets. Unfortunately, there is a certain reality to running a one-off brick and mortat in the post-pandemic world. The prices are a little high for classic Chinese-American (i.e. the word Peking is all over the menu so gauge your expectations) food, but I find this to be a less pretentious and more well-prepared sleeper over Peter Chang's which is modern and consistently underperforms for what it is. The two restaurants aren’t really that comparable, but I grew up with homemade Chinese food, and this is the kind of food that is more common on a regular basisa long with a lot fo Chinese American mainstays – you can get the General Tso’s and Crab Rangoon, but there are other gems if you explore the menus a bit. The House Special Chicken has a Korean fried chicken vibe... think soy-garlic flavor, that’s crispy and hot. I also love their Peking Eggplant, which is cooked fresh and hot, and is basicalkt Yu-shiang Eggplant on other menus. The guy in the back knows what he's doing, and you can hear his vocal joy of cooking. No apparent online vehicles to order ahead... they're old school, so you just have to go there or call in your order. Yes, it would be nice if they had delivery options."
"My husband and I were looking for a place to eat at around 8 pm and found this place in the nearby neighborhood. The food was very good, tasty and enough for two. We ordered egg drop and wonton soups, half duck (came with white rice and pancakes), and litchi nuts. The meal came with tea also. People were very nice and attentive too. All in all it was very tasty and we’ll be back."
"It’s hard to find North American style Chinese sit-down restaurants these days, but this restaurant creates that familiar experience. The cozy dining room, with complementary tea and the fantastic cooking felt exactly like NYC and DC Chinese restaurants I remember from childhood. I’m sure the take-out is great, but come dine in and re-live that Chinese restaurant nostalgia!!"
