"Read the fine print. Sometimes sale items that are marked as on-sale are not actually on-sale because the sale has expired. For some reason, this Safeway does not remove expired sale tags. Also, one of the two elevators to the parking garage has been out of service for months. They make you go to the other side of the store and use the one working elevator to get down to the parking garage lobby with a non working egress door. No signs directing you past the broken doors & elevator. It's kind of like a maze to find your way into the parking garage. How in the world does this Safeway get away with the code compliance is a mystery."
"Kudos to the employees here for keeping it together despite the odds. I’ve decided I’m done shopping here due to a variety of factors: 1. Stopped providing hand baskets. 2. Two of the worst Starbucks drinks I’ve ever had somehow. 3. A large column separating the self checkout which leads to people cutting in line/literally can’t see when a register is open 4. More seriously: The general air of gentrification creating friction between socioeconomic groups 5. And the last straw: Being verbally hate crimed Sucks because prices aren’t bad with coupons from the app. Oh well!"
"As big a retailer as Safeway is, they can't seem to control food prices. Now I have to take the Metro to Lidl, Giant, Walmart, even Whole foods (for produce). They have been better on controlling Rx costs but it is inconvenient to visit multiple stores. Get it together Safeway."
"This store is..eh? However when I do go (I live a block from there), I only buy a few things so I never use a shopping cart..the kicker is, this safeway NEVER supplies hand baskets for its customers. I always end up with my items in my hands/arms. I can’t for the life of me understand how this is the ONLY grocery store in DC that doesn’t have hand baskets for customers."
"This Safeway location regularly has old produce and suspicious looking meat, but my most recent purchase of lamb was truly horrifying- I opened it three days before the sell by date (July 24) and it looked like this and smelled even worse. The packed by date was July 14, ten full days earlier. A true health hazard."
