Giant Food

"I visited the store at 8:30 PM on Monday, January 22. I was purchasing bananas, aluminum foil, and butter. I went through the self checkout line, and the card reader was not working. The clerk told me that it was the card reader, not my card. We tried 3 or 4 times to make it work. She moved me over to a checkout line and the very nice clerk rang me up, after a considerable wait. Again the card reader did not work (I was using a different card). The clerk said I would need to go to the customer service line to check out and at that point I figured I’d be better off taking my business to a store with functional check out systems and better customer service. This isn’t my first issue with this Giant but it will be my last."

"Great store for prices and options, but consistently terrible customer service experiences. It’s always something, but today with about 25 items I was told I couldn’t go through self checkout because I had more than 20 items. I had originally gone to self checkout because only two regular registers were open, one line wasn’t moving at all, and the other was extremely long while the self checkout had no line at all. Maybe the worker spending all her energy rudely yelling at customers that they had too many items for self checkout could have opened one of the 10 closed registers instead (I don’t think it takes 3 workers to run the self checkout with no line). The cashier I eventually got to was curt, cold and condescending. My expectations were on the floor- looks like they need to be even lower."

"Appropriately named for giant inventory. Can see higher potential for store if moving inventory. Bakery would be fresher. Soup & salad area lacked soup. Utensils were limited or nonexistent. Dining area is a dead area. Staff have varying degrees of friendliness. Predominantly black which I don’t have a problem with. Although, feel should represent area demographics. Sandwich & sushi area seemed manned other than black. Big plus is the inventory which is large compared to other stores in area."

"The freezer that holds a good portion of this store’s ice cream need maintenance! This has been going on for well over 30 days. Maybe a the ice cream is good but I’m not buying it when it looks like this."

"This Giant Food Store is pretty big and they offer a variety of different items. The prices are somewhat reasonable. The staff was welcoming, helpful and friendly. This location was clean and offers a convenient parking garage across the street with a 2 hours validated parking stamped from Giant Food Store."
