"Edit: I tried to talk to Cedric the store manager, and he got extremely defensive. Do not run your complaints to him, because he will turn it around on you. He said no one has ever had a complaint about him or the store. Instead of rectifying any concerns, he will deny and deny, and then once you’re good and frustrated, he will accuse you of being too hostile towards him so he can no longer help. I’ve never been treated this way by a store manager. Me to the manager: “This place used to be so welcoming.” Manager, getting defensive: “oh yeah? What’s so unwelcoming about this place?” Me: *gestures broadly*"

"I have never had a positive experience at this Safeway. It’s never fully stocked with essentials like certain produce, eggs, or hygiene products. Carts are always scattered, and they’re severely understaffed, so getting any good help from anyone at any point during the day is impossible. Even perishables like meats and bread are left on the shelves and in the fridge so long, they’re molding and rotten. I have some pictures that were taken just today 10/29/23 at 8:30am, barely two hours after the store opened, showing grey rotten and bloated breakfast meats pulled right off the shelf. This store needs a serious overhaul. It’s disgusting that so many people live in this area and rely on the Safeway as their primary grocery store, but are subjected to this kind of poor quality EVERYTHING."

"Cedric the store manager lacks knowledge that ADA law permits service animals in stores and they are NOT required to wear a service vest. Per Cedric on 10/17/23 he does not care...SHOCKING...Safeway Corp office acknowledge ADA laws. But I should have know, a place that sells meats looking like this; leave cold deli food out overnight with a this cover on top, would have a less than knowledgeable store manager."

"The amenities at this store are very good: a bakery, a florist, a pharmacist, cold cuts and hot takes... but the store feels "meh" despite the fancy EV charging stations I was also dissapointed because, when I went to check out, there were fireworks offered as an impulse by at the self-checkouts... and I impulsively grabbed some. When I went to check out, I discovered that they were age-restricted and there was nobody available to verify my age. I ended up not getting the fireworks. And bybthe time I left, 2 of the 4 self checkouts were locked-out due to age verification (and nobody being available to verify my age)."

"Not great but not terrible. Produce is hit-or-miss at best, with herbs and leafy greens being the most inconsistent. There is parking available on the lower level, but there are often homeless people down there panhandling. I hate how this place doesn't have any hand-held shopping baskets, just a mixed bag of poorly functioning shopping carts. The "bakery" is pitiful, but there's usually a passable selection in the meat market as long as you're not looking for specific cuts. They close the surface-level doors on Georgia Ave before the store itself closes. You're unlikely to find anyone running a classic staffed checkout, it's scan-it-yourself only - and the scales are often dysfunctional and there's no attendant to help fix the problem. Also, good luck getting a warm body at the customer service desk. If this place wasn't right on top of a Metro station they would have gone out of business years ago."
