Reviews of Allegheny Trail House
"Absolutely incredible place to stay! I was there for work so it was wonderful coming back to a cozy atmosphere after a long day. Also, Jason is an amazing cook! All the breakfasts and my box lunch was delicious!"
"Our group of 4 stayed here on our first night of the GAP ride. Everything was fantastic and I'd definitely return for another visit anytime I ride the GAP. Jason's place was easy to find, plenty of space to store bikes and gear with maintenance spaces to make some adjustments. The rooms were super clean, spacious and comfortable. Inside the house was large to lounge around but we mostly enjoyed the backyard after the ride by the fire with some local pizza and a dip in the hot tub. Jason's breakfast was fantastic and the fresh coffee was exactly what we needed before hitting the trail to the top of the divide. Communication was great leading up the stay - his hosting was top notch. Give him a visit and take advantage of this bike and shuttle services."
"A fabulous place to stay. Easy access from the GAP Trail. The food was delicious. The fire pit and hot tub were a great way to spend the evening after a day on the trail."
"We had the ultimate goal of trying out Tracks and Yaks, a railroad biking tour company (Google it if you haven’t already. Highly recommend!). Everything went according to plan, with the exception of having a good nights rest. The beds in our room were absolutely horrible. I’m not even sure where to start with describing how bad they were. As soon as we sat down on a mattress half the mattress would start to sink to the other side. Imagine being a kid and trying to make a slide out of your mattress… well for this one you didn’t have to try anything, it came included in your night stay. The bed also shakes really bad. Not only do the beds turn into slides, the bed also compared to a water bed. I haven’t been on a water been since the early 2000s but staying here was certainly like being in throwback period. The beds screams at you whenever you move or turn over. Imagine again, a bed that turns into a slide when you sit on it, a water bed when you lay on it, and the screeching noise the beds make every time you turn over or move in the bed. It was bad. We were up all night because we didn’t trust the beds. Here’s my biggest complaint. I get that we stayed Labor Day weekend and everyone likes to charge more on holiday weekends, but how are you going to charge $170 per night, with beds that horrible? Staying in a hostel would have been more comfortable. If the nightly charge is that expensive, then you should be able to replace the beds or charge a lower price, especially with only having 4 rooms in the house. Even if it’s a historical building/house whatever, there’s no reason for you to have guests staying with beds that horrible. I would only recommend staying here once they upgrade their beds. No complaints otherwise."
"I would give it a 6 out of 5 if I could. The house is beautiful and there are private bathrooms in every room. The decorations are tasteful and the shared spaces were cozy. The hot tub was very welcome after a day on the bike. The locked bike room felt very secure. Their dog Kramer is adorable and you should play rope with him. The breakfast was good, with vegan options. Jason was quiet, kind, and helpful. His shuttle service and knowledge of the trail was very helpful as there was a detour over the Paw Paw Tunnel. Would absolutely stay again!"
