"ABA is abuse do not send your child here unless you want to pay for real therapy later. Please look up what actual autistic people recommend do not go here. ABA is a scam and doesn’t actually help your child, all it does is teach them how to mask and feel unsafe around you and others."
"We were paired with a therapist that was still in the process of getting accredited to practice independently, meaning was still unde supervision - we were never told that - only after at the first session when I asked. I wish now that I had asked how much actual hands on experience she had because it seemed like she had none (after several weeks of seeing no measurable benefit from the sessions). She diagnosed my son based on my account of his behavior without ever conducting any measurable tests, evaluations or scales. We were never given a treatment plan to authorize until I asked for it - turns out she created one only based on my account and she didn't even share it with me or get my consent on the objectives! (I didn't agree with them and didnt end up signing it because it was taking her a while to update it). Pretty sure its illegal for them to treat a child without a treatment plan signed by the parents, especially when trauma related. She refused to share information about the sessions, quoting privacy. My son is 7 and I am the one who took him to therapy, yet I literally had no idea what was being done with him in the closed sessions, which she forced him to go into alone. She even gave him screen time without asking me first! (She was told that screen time can be a trigger for him). This was supposed to be trauma therapy, and she couldn't even provide any basic therapy in general. Not to mention, she brought up the trauma topic, out of left field, and left us completely empty handed with no tips whatsoever on how to handle any outbursts as a result. When I asked for tips, she simply said to use some of the anxiety relieving tips she gave before (she gave 2 total over a 10 week period). A response to trauma should not be dealt with the way anxiety is!! Trauma is much more sensitive and should be dealt with as such!!! When I finally decided to discontinue with her, she didn't offer any suggestions or tips to deal with the repercussions of her bringing up the trauma. Never even asked what she could have done better or why we were unhappy. We waited for a spot at Lighthouse for several months only to waste our time with someone who clearly knows nothing about trauma therapy. Her supervisor, the owner, never even reached out to ask why we left and if we were unhappy with services received. Incredibly disappointing!"
"I have advanced stage cancer, so I needed help communicating with my kids all the challenges involved and making sure their emotional needs are being met. I can't recommend Lighthouse Play Therapy enough! My daughter looks forward to going and meeting with her art therapist every week."
"This place was amazing with my girls! They put a plan in place and when they completed the plan assured my girls they could return if they ever needed to talk. My youngest asked to return a year later and they welcomed her and set up another plan and again told her she could come back- that was a year ago and she still says I know M’s. Mimi is a trusted adult- I would recommend anytime-"
"I called a month ago, and they told me that I was on 7 weeks waiting list. I didn't receive a call after 7 weeks. I called two days ago and left a voice message, and nobody returned the call. So, I tried to call again, and whoever answered the phone gathered my daughter's information and asked me the best time to come. After mentioning my availability, she asked me to hold so she can check. She put me on hold for 14!!! Now, she called back and didn't apologize. After I told her that I hung up because I was placed on hold for 14 minutes, she didn't even apologized and proceeded by telling me that she had to help another pt and asked me the day of my availability. Yeah, I just hung up. If I experience an unpleasant and disorganized response BEFORE I enter the program, I wonder how the rest of the process WHILE I'm in the program!."
