Institute for Patient- and Family-Centered Care

The Institute for Patient- and Family-Centered Care, located at 6917 Arlington Road in Bethesda, Maryland, is dedicated to improving quality, safety, and the care experience through partnerships with patients and their families. Evidence shows that involving patients and families in their care leads to better outcomes. The institute recently completed two projects funded by PCORI, focusing on the impact of restricting family presence during COVID-19 in long-term care settings and hospitals. They have developed new resources available for download.

Their research topics and themes for long-term care are developed in partnership with residents and families. They have also created a guide for promising practices in engaging long-term care communities in planning for future research. These priorities will continue to be a major focus in 2024.
