"I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars. We came here on a Saturday evening for a friend's birthday. We asked the staff (Eric) for recommendations on the drinks and the food and told him what we liked, and he gave each of us a recommendation that suited us beautifully. We decided to try out the restaurant week menu. He knew two of us didn't like mushrooms so he told us which items to avoid (and I tried one of those items anyway and liked it). One of us likes her drinks and food very spicy and when her drink wasn't spicy enough, Eric brought more spices. He was very friendly and accommodating. Eric must have told the chef that we had a birthday at the table, because before desserts came, the chef came to our table to personally wish my friend a Happy Birthday. We had a nice chat with the chef as well. And the birthday presentation was so great that one of my friends took a video. We all had an amazing evening and we thank everyone for that."
"We visited today randomly from out of town with no expectations. Wow, we were blown away! Rene was an amazing bartender. We got to learn so much about mezcal, Oaxaca, and the menu at Destino. We cannot wait to come back this weekend!"
"How to best sum up how good this place is. I'm a longtime DC resident and have eaten all over the city, and I'd call Destino one of the best restaurants -- if not THE best one -- in D.C. The food is incredible, unique and creative. The ambience is intimate. The owner is humble and wonderful. No complaints. None. I was blown away. I tell everyone I know to go here when someone is looking for somewhere new to try. What's also nice is that this place hasn't been overrun (yet?) by DC foodies, so it feels like a treat to be able to eat here without fighting to get in. It's that good, folks. Strongly endorse."
"Great spot in the area. I just with there were more menu options. I really loved the guacamole. They had an awesome selection of drinks and mock tails, and happy hour from 4-6 pm"
"The food was solid and the vibe was on point. Inside was too loud bc they were hosting a dance night, so we sat outside. The guacamole and the salsa verde were bomb. The enchiladas per packed with meat and the octopus was perfectly cooked."
